My DPV floated away from just south of Villa Blanca last night. : (
Cap visible a few inches above the surface, floats vertically. Current heading north. Return would be amazing!!!
Li ion battery on board, ideal if a boat doesn't hit it. I've notified the port captain and talked to a few of...
Dove it yesterday. Horrible distruction clearly on the reef. Everything flattened and crushed in a very clear path. A reef overhang smashed off the size of a diver... Also the 10m wide place higher up the reef onto the reef where there is some sand where the chains dragged. The real damage is...
I'm happy with many dive styles.
Some people need to scare themselves (and their buddy) before they choose to change their methods.
If someone wants to learn from well-meaning and kind advice, wonderful.
If they are happy as they are, I just hope whoever they are with is skilled enough to...
Clever thought process! I like it. Yes, I've seen a few people do bench mounted versions, but never someone using the household water line... Such a convenient solution and without the risk of excessive pressure.
Liking the idea of bleeding of the pressure slowly too by opening the control...
Current had other plans... Didn't make it to that area of the reef.
From previous dives, can confirm there is very little "just sand" anywhere along that section.
It's full of reef life. (or was)
In better news, 9 less lion fish on the reef after today's dive.

My eyesight is fairly typical, but I have a multiple hundred hours in true 0 viz diving. It's also the environment our participants learn to dive in. (not only low viz, 0 viz)
With proper touch protocol and equipment I am an effective buddy sightless and sighted. Let's not forget how skilled a...
Depends on your eyesight... Lighting is as important as the lens. I like a jewelers 10x loupe for inspecting an orifice after polishing... A cheap (GLASS) magnifying glass is pretty good as well. A 4x is pretty versatile for smaller details.
Another option is a standard lens/light desk mounted...
Never presented a solo card or needed one yet.
Once I was initially asked for it in Ireland, a few minutes of chatting made it no longer needed.
I don't carry one, but I rarely dive in places with liability concerns.

Hmmm. Here's a similar experience report.
I've seen that seat and spacer be a tight fit. Don't know if it's poor manufacturing tolerances or the service kit... Regardless, held IP fine after pressing it into place. Anyone else?

An expensive and complex option is carbon fiber tanks... the weight savings on the tanks are transfered to more lead needing carried... but that can be done incrementally in several trips into the shallows. (Presuming shore diving). I had a period of time it was the best solution for my body...
Collecting dust, buried in gear, kept just in case? Any of these describe a scooter you use to enjoy?
If so, I'd like to give it a new home. (And cut down the body and put in a LiPo pack.)
Florida, Ontario or Mexico preferred. (Anywhere a cheap flight away)

A few considerations:
1. There is specific training for solo diving, but it's generally recognized experience is also needed to do it safely. We often don't know how to assess risk when there are unknowns our training and experience haven't made obvious yet.
2. It's nearly as easy to drown in...
When I'm in water warm enough for no wetsuit I wear something like this:
I agree the drag is a factor but it's minor enough I haven't noticed a decrease in bottom time or increase in fatigue as a result.
I also have a few hundred dives in jeans. Shorts were considered not modest and legs...
Mild miss...
I've been having flu symptoms getting in the way of my diving recently.
Started clearing up. I could somewhat equalize on land. Good enough. I hoped...
Tried a dive:
Squeak (Surface light over pressurizing to prepare for descent.)
Down to 3ft.
Squeak.
Down to 5ft.
Squeak.
Down...
