    Sealife DC1200

Thanks for this tip. The Dri-rite I used that way did not work very well. I'll see if I can get your system to work.

    Sealife DC1200

Comments in no particular order: Enjoy it! RTFM. Make sure you have plenty of extra dry packs - they don't "regenerate" very well in oven or microwave. Do a bath tub test before you dive it the first time. Double check your assumption about the wide angle lens - I seem to recall that there is a...

Show us your Sealife weekend diving pics!

Hey jar- The strobe is needed but is still not not a perfect solution without some experimenting. I use mine pulled as far out to the side as it can go and I position it in the same plane as the lens port. I have also been pointing it slightly inward toward the subject from there. Although I...

Sea life camera found after 8 months in the ocean

Congrats on the retrieval... Had a scare myself in December near St Thomas, USVI. DC1000 was supposedly clipped to my BC on an extender. Turned out that the extender was wrapped, not clipped and the camera broke free while I was occupied with something else. I learned the value of allowing a...

    Lighting options with the DC1000?

Hi CoolTech, All. I have been preoccupied with "real work" and have not had the opportunity to follow-up on my own setup (nor have I had time to try my own attempt at a solution!). I hope I have the time now to give it a try. To CoolTech: I sent you a private mail question through the SB...

    Sydney Diving April-May

Suggest you have a go at a Marouba Point shark dive with Abyss (or Dive Centre Manley usually in league with some from Abyss). My son and I did it back a ways and loved it. Lots of nurse sharks and quite a few weedies. Great photo ops if you do that.

    Lighting options with the DC1000?

Hi Treywilly - I have been out on the road for the last couple of weeks. Sorry, just been unable to answer. I hope to have some time to assemble everything and get a picture posted this week. Cooltech - I am in awe of your ability to get good results with the 600. I am looking...

    Lighting options with the DC1000?

Treywilly, I'll let you know as soon as I can dive again (post-surgical plus rotten winter white out on the east coast US). I have a mounting adapter that allows two lights and plan to try it as soon as I dive again. It seems to work on the surface, but "ya never know until you try it"...

Welcome to the Dork Diver Forum!

Absolutely amazed that the forum went silent. It is winter in the northern hemisphere and all the talkative dork divers must be hibernating... while those in the southern are too busy diving to log in... Well keep up the good work guys... -jack - YADD:dork2:

New to diving and want a nice camera

Hi ChiefZero - Starving student... having been one once and the recent acquirer of a DC1000, I would take Don's advice. Get the diving down a bit first. Let your instructor know you really want to master neutral buoyancy control *because* you goal is to integrate photography into to your...

    Lighting options with the DC1000?

Since the 1000 does both vid and still pretty well, does it make any sense to use a dive light like the Ikelite Pro V-8 LED as a field illumination light (for vid and still) and the SeaLife flash to fill? Has/Does anyone do this currently? What success? TIA - another diver with :dork2...

    Accessory equipment question

You can still do pretty well. This was taken two days ago at Manly, NSW, OZ. Probably about 6 meters down along the rocks. Happened across the pair and could not "anchor". Shot was taken as I hovered in light surge. Natural light, so less than optimal but still decent enough. One of my first...

Should I get a Wide Angle Lens for DC800?

It means there is a circular dark fade around the edges of the photograph. No problem... :D

Should I get a Wide Angle Lens for DC800?

I think you'll be safe. Came with my DC1000 kit. It does not fit absolutely snug, but it seems to work fine in air. Gombessa is exactly right on this. This issue dates back a long way in digicamera-dom. Hanging extra glass on the front of these often does not work without vignette on widest...

What would happen if I took a WP camera scuba below 10 ft?

Well... I would also advise that you stick to ratings. My son saw his 790SW destroyed twice at less than 30 feet. The first was warranty replacement but we bought the 3rd rebuild for $100. I found an internet dealer in Japan who still had the housing in stock. I figured a greymarket housing was...
