    California Diving Co. Dive Box

When I bought my Stanley tub at Lowe's, they had two...one was HUGE (probably the one you saw) and the other was basically the same size as the CA diving co. one (I bought the smaller one). I have found it to be plenty sturdy (although definitely not as well-built as "The Dive Box") for carting...

    Bad Buddy Concerns

He's a very experienced diver having dived all over the globe in a multitude of conditions, and you're a warm-water drift-diver...maybe he makes up danger-filled stories so you won't ask to dive with him ;).

    Laguna Beach laws

    (B) Authorized Orders to Discontinue Skin Diving and Scuba Diving. Police officers, the city manager, or other employees of the city designated by the city manger to enforce skin diving and scuba diving regulations and control skin diving and scuba diving activities, may prohibit skin diving and...

    Get a BP/W!

So they finally did it, they finally put a Wal-Mart underwater. And wouldn't you know it, she's shopping for food! (Read with you're best "angry-hick" accent in mind): "Hey you...yeah YOU, with the 5-foot wingspan. I wanna talk to ur manager. There's somethin' wrong with y'alls fish...they...

    Advise for Cold Diver

Your best bet would be a drysuit, but if that's not financially practical there are other not-too-expensive measures you can take. A hooded-vest is a good option, but they drive me crazy too, so I don't wear one (I even cut the bib off of my hood because it bugged me too much). I've heard the...

Can you get watertight backpacks for snorkeling?

I think £100 is about $200 so the answer is yes...depending on how thick of a wetsuit you wanted, you could probably even find one for around £50 (I've seen full body body-glove wetsuits at sport chalet on sale for $100, 5mm I believe). As far as a waterproof backpack, I've seen them online BUT...

Noob intro and need fins mask, boots, and snorkel

If it's gonna be a one time thing, you may just wanna buy an all-in-one kit from Sports Chalet, Big 5 or something like that. If it's something you think you'll wanna do regularly then it's worth it to spend the extra money to get good gear. Mask: Atomic Frameless, Atomic Subframe, Mares...

How do you lure an octopus out of a crevice?

Sorry, they're too cool...can't do it. Plus bothering a sleeping octopus seems like bothering a sleeping cat...I mean come on, do they really have anything to do ;)?

How do you lure an octopus out of a crevice?

Octopi are, to me, the coolest thing in Socal waters...but I rarely get to see one. Last time I was at Crescent Bay I saw a fairly large one in a crevice. I thought about reaching in there to pull it out, but I didn't want to injure it or get my finger bit off by it's octo-beak so I just let...

    Love my new fins!

Just got mine about a week ago...3 dives so far and loving them! Lots of power, very precise and easier to kick than my Quattros were. Great fin.

    Spring adjustment, F1 question

Thanks! BTW, these fins are awesome. I was worried that since they are fairly heavy and stiff they would be difficult to kick and fatiguing...this is not the case at all. They are powerful, precise AND easier to kick than the Mares Quattros I was previously using (especially with frog kicks)...

    Kelp forest in May?

Should be fine in 7mm WS with hooded vest...just make sure you've got boots and gloves too (5mm would be ideal); water temp should be around 56F-60F in May. Kelp's danger is way overrated...I've only gotten slightly tangled in it a few times. Usually I can just pull it off of me, but worst...

    Great diving in Laguna today

May hold up fairly well for tomorrow, but definitely done by Wednesday. 1-2ft surf all day, light surge, the lowest tide I've ever seen, and 20ft vis. Not to mention tons of fish, several sea lions (including mom, dad and baby) and an octopus. Tomorrow should still be pretty good, but it's...

Hollis F1 Fin - Color Anyone??

I don't think the F1 is a fin that lends itself to being colored. A big solid red, blue, yellow etc. rubber fin would just look weird.

    Spring adjustment, F1 question

Is there anything bad about adjusting just one side of the spring? For the boots I currently have, the loose setting is bit too loose, and the tight setting is a bit too tight; but with one side tight, one side loose (on the same spring) it feels just right. So again, is this okay to do?
