This talk of short intervals with Nitrox only makes sense if everyone uses it. On the OPs trip, his DM/guide was on air and possibly others were too.
FWIW, I have never been on a Florida dive boat where everyone used Nitrox and a short SI is not the norm. I am including a weeks worth of...
A recreational dive operator's boat will tolerate much worse weather than divers can endure. This Capt screwed you and laughed as you walked away. I hope you never booked with him again.
+1 on Hermans post. I found a mask I really liked, bought a second and sent both off for lenses so I would have a spare. Best money I have spent on dive equipment.
The Pilot analogy is actually not bad. These are the general steps to follow in an emergency taught by the Air Force.
1 Maintain Control
2 Analyze the Situation
3 Take the Proper Action
How long this takes really depends a lot on training, drills and individual reaction to stress. Step...
I agree, bigger is better. I like to use a 20 or 30 cu ft bottle depending on the dive.
But I do have a couple of 6cu ft bottles, with combination valve / first stages sold by H2Odessy that I use when I need to travel by air and know the dives will be shallow. I have experimented with them in...
Update
I flunked my first stress test and had another stent placed before I was cleared to resume diving. I was able to make the April trip to Cozumel and have 50+ dives since my heart attack. I am thankful to be back diving.
Getting old sucks and I see my body going down hill at an...
Well not everyone has taken theirs back. I still have mine AND I read the manual. I think it is a good feature, I can turn the computer and air on and not worry about battery life. My safety checks before I get wet are plenty to turn it back on.
I would never dive even a lightly used reg without having it checked out. This is life support equipment not a wetsuit or pair of gloves. This extra cost is the reason you are not getting much action.
Here is one with just a few more dives that has been bench checked for less money.
Used -...
They still have it on the web site at Blue Water Photo.
Olympus E-PM1 camera & underwater housing bundle, best deal ever on an underwater camear | Bluewater Photo & Video
This is a pretty bad idea. Small inflatibles are very unstable with just a small amount of wind and waves. They are really meant for protected waters in good weather.
With two divers and gear, you will probably not be able to get it up on a plane. Slow and unstable is a bad combination...
