How many weights do you use?

Yes I'm a big guy, 6'2" and about 240lbs, but aside from that, I was wondering why you use a 9lb plate and a 5lbs STA with no ditchable weight. I would think if you went with an aluminum plate (which you said you also use) and a standard STA, you could put about 8 pounds on a belt, or in...

How many weights do you use?

I'm impressed, assuming you neutral at 10 feet with nearly empty tanks your at least 20lbs negative with full tanks at the begining. With no ditchable weight how would you deal with some type of accident that damages your suit and your BC? If your able to swim up a rig thats at least 20lbs...

I have a small (6 ft) bottle I use for drysuit inflation thats filled with air... cause argon is an urban ledgend... ooo fan the fire... but when I need to check a mix I hook the meter up to the little bottle to calibrate it. all of my regular tanks are filled with some type of mix so I just...

    Importing European Cylinders

I don't think any US based Hydro tester is going to test any non-D.O.T. stamped tanks. And I think it will confuse most guys doing a VIP when they go to look at the stampings and see a hydro every 2 years and no D.O.T. stamps and numbers. sell them overseas and buy a couple of new ones...

Diving New England 72s or 80s

But why do you never hear of anyone doubling up a set of alminum 100's for diving wet?? if the answer is really obvious, and I'm just mildly retarded, please feel free to slap me in the back of the head. I haven't used aluminum tanks since my OW class many years ago, but I figure for the...

    What regs do you dive?

even my single tank(only have 1 single) I have an H valve. I have 2 poseidon Cyklon metal bodied seconds on 2 oceanic DX1 diaphragm firsts. for the stage bottle I have an OMS O2 deco reg. for the drysuit bottle/argon I use one of my old poseidon unbalanced cyklon 300 first stages...

    First set of Doubles

I dive a 45lb oms wing and even full tanks I have no problems being neutral at depth to 160'. And thats also with a reel, a bag, two knives, shears, two lights, and a sling bottle. I don't weight myself with this gear, cause I figure if I loose them on a dive I don't want to be positive at...

Wreck Reel - which is better?

I've had the 5" aqua for about 10 years, the only thing I've noticed is the blue anodizing comes off after a little while in salt water. evry one I've seen on the boat has almost all the blue color gone off of it. But its a bullit proof reel, and I've never had any problems with it jumping track...

    Hood for FFM?

Try the titanium drysuit zippered hood has a double skin face seal specificly for using FFMs. The neoprene is thick and soft and the zipper make it easy to put on and get off. I have one and use it with an AGA and have no leaks as long as the hood and FFM are on straight. If the hood is...

    Highland bands size?

Question- Are highland bands made different sizes for specific tank-manifold combinations? I see on their website it says when you order them be specific as to tank and manifold brand. how much of a difference is there in size between a DR manifold to a halcyon manifold to a sea elite?? I...

    isolator open or closed?

WHAT IF: you're diving with your manifold iso closed, you're at depth just about to switch to the backup reg on your second tank, when "pop", the neck ring on your second "full" tank goes and you loose your full tank? assuming you sucked your fist tank down to 1/2, you now have only 1/4 of...

    Dive Rite TransPlate Harness

the belt is just a single piece of 2" web with a stainless grommet in the middle that the doubles bolt passes through. anything that mounts on a regular harness belt will go on the transplate. the crotch strap goes between the plate(slot) and the belt as it does on any BP/W set up. I don't use...

    Pst E-7 120 = E-8 149

OMS states their tanks have a service life of 10,000 fills at 4000psi... so you can fill them 10,000 times to 4,000psi before they blow.. in theory... I changed the burst disks for 3500 svc pressure in all my LP tanks and I fill to 3600psi for deep dives with out even breaking a sweat.... but...
