What dry suit do you use?

save your money untill you have enough to get exactly what you want. a dry suit should last a long time if properly cared for. I have a DUI CF200 that I bought in 1996. I put about 70 to 100 dives on NE atlantic wrecks every year. I had the seals replaced and two pin holes fixed by DUI halfway...

    Lift bag advice needed

Only use a bag that is just big enough for the object you're lifting. It may seem easy to just get a 200lb bag "cause it'll lift what ever I need" but if you're lifting a 40lb anchor a 200 lb bag is overkill. A bag too large will start to accelerate as the air inside expands. A dump valve may or...

    Cylinder Markings

I guess I'm missing the point of the sticker. I have never had a problem with someone grabbing my tanks and trying to use them on a charter, even a busy cattle barge; and for that situation looking at most of the nitrox banners on tanks they all look the same to me. As far as the banner as a...

    Best Wreck Reel Recommendation

look at the aqua explorers 5 inch primary reel. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about it. I've had one for 10 years, and aside from the anodized color wearing off in spots, it works as good as new. Dan Berg started Aqua explorers in NY so I guess thats why alot of divers, around here...

    Full Face Mask

There is a reason that almost every dive rescue team in the world, and the US military use the AGA. If you need more endorsement then that, I can't imagine what you're looking for. If you're concerned with price, the AGA is one of the cheaper FFMs on the market at around $500. Don't bother with...

    Dive-Rite BP

do the polished plates have any advantage over the mat finished ones? are they more corrosion resistant because of less pores in the surface or something? I have two mat finished plates and was wondering if it would be worth the effort to hit them on the buffing wheel if it will make them hold...

Atomic 2nd stage "stuttering" on inhale

check the IP with a gauge. If its a little low it may cause a stutter. Try turning up the IP another 10psi. If that doesn't help or if you have no idea what I'm suggesting, then take it back to the store to get looked at.

Need advice for raising a half-sunken boat

with a 7+' tidal shift, you could attach some floats at low tide to some structeral members of the hull and let the tide pull the boat from the mud. Using a hose or pressure washer to blow water under the hull will alleviate the suction of the mud. with the boat at high tide, out of the mud...

    Lightweight Doubles Wing Suggestion?

I dive a OMS 45lb bungeed wing, I dove it several times without the bungees installed and then installed the bands. I can honestly say the bands do make a big difference in the air shift. I won't get into the good vs bad.... dir vs death sentence topic of bungeed wings, but, yes the bands do...

    Lightweight Doubles Wing Suggestion?

Makes very nice 35 lb and 45 lb non bungeed wings, good price and the bag-air cell design seems to hold up better then the single layer cell does. I won't mention anything about the 45lb bungeed wing except to say that they do make one, that in itself is another firefight I won't start. for...

The great big, all-inclusive Leisure Pro note

"DS is, like LP, a "real" LDS. I was in their store in Orlando last week. I've ordered from both and at least in their Orlando store they actually have employees who are real DIVERS and who know something about diving." I have ordered from DS and had a very good experience, quick ship and...

    Andrea Doria Divers

yea, aircraft accidents have dropped off, but if you're in a boat and your motor stalls, you can take a few minutes to work on it, how ever aircraft don't do such a good job with that situation. On the other hand if you're in a plane and the weather gets crappy, you just fly above it... boats...

    max depth with standard air

At no point did I say that anyone shouldn't dive, and I think that you took my statement to say that diving is only for the rich. I am far from rich, a standard blue collar get my hands dirty every day kind of guy, and I do not see my attitude as being snobbish. My attitude is if you are not...

    max depth with standard air

There has been alot of research into different gas mixes for deep diving, moving from helium toward other inert gases. Argon for one is a gas that can be mixed with O2 for breathing mixes. As helium becomes alot more costly in the years to come you'll see new trimixes with alternate gasses pop...

Are Force Fins really that bad?

fins are one of those items that are very personal like a mask, you have to find a particular one that suits you. some people will swear by jet fins saying they are the best you can buy, or split fins or force fins or whatever... force fins seem to get a bad rap on this board for a few...
