    Computers and flying

where was your computer? was it in a bag with any moisture like your regs? was it possible that any water dripped onto the comp while in your bag? I'm not familiar with the stinger but any comps I've used in the past have only gone into dive mode when the get wet. I might have it checked if...

    0 viz?

If you're looking for black water try a marina in the busy season. most of the bottom is muddy, silty and loaded with oil and pollution. stir it up a little and all of a sudden you can't see your light even if you aim it into your mask. The trick with the bag of clear water on the gauges works...

    Diving under Bermuda?

I don't think it would topple over... it has alot of trees on it so it would probably just float a little below the surface.... probably would wash up on the jersey shore... everything else does...

    Uwatec Aladin Air Z Nitrox

before you buy a UWATEC computer do a search on the net for articles about the company and the pending lawsuits from crippled divers who trusted their products. you may be suprised to find out the company hid a computer glitch for years due to the cost of a recall.... only to recall them after...

    Nitrox at 300 bar

at any pressure the PO2 will be elevated and will cause a faster corrosion in steel tanks. even at 3000 psi or 200 bar the elevated PO2 of even a mild mix like 30% the tanks will corrode if there is any moisture in them. But yes, the higher the O2% combined with the pressure will elevate the PO2...

    Nitrox at 300 bar

If I remember my inorganic chem correctly it has to do with gasses moving into a liquid state under pressure and temperature, depending on the gas this happens at different temps and pressures. so yes at an extreme pressure or veeeeeery low temp the gasses would start to seperate, but not at any...

    Tank Questions

for the sticky goo left over from stickers, try some plain old vegetable oil and a rag. pour a little on the rag and rub into the sticky residue, it softens it up and lifts it off. the oil can be wiped off with the rag. if you need to put on another sticker then a little soap or surface cleaner...

When does Dutch Springs get warm enough for "Wet" diving?

around mid may... but the thermoclines will hit you like a brick wall if you go deeper then about 30'-40'. And the thermoclines never go away... in late august they are still there, but as the summer goes along they get deeper and not as dramaic. in the spring there can be as much as a 30...

    Passenger Liner Oregon

wasn't asking for a justification, was just trying to point out nothing would be where it once was, but if you really want a set of plans, then steve bielinda or danny berg would be the first two people I'd contact. if neither one of them can help you, then you're in for a tough search.

    HP's or LP's for Nitrox?

quote "But an 80/20 deco blend in a 3000psi tank needs 2400psi O2. And O2 is usually 2400psi tank. So if you want a 80/20 in a HP. You'd need to put more pressure in the tank then you could get from a O2 cylinder. You'd have to use a booster. And all shops don't have them. None in my area have...

    Passenger Liner Oregon

the way the water moves stuff around down there for the past hundred years or so, plus thousands of divers moving things, I would be amazed if anything was in its original locations with the exception of the engine( which is one of the only things easily identified) even the massive steering...

OMS Brass SPG - Stupid Question.

the brass is plated.... nobody makes brass SPGs that aren't plated. the scratches aren't normal, I've bought a few OMS gauges in the past few years and they all were clean and unscratched. the rough edges may be where the plating hasn't been smoothed out. mine all have a little edge on them but...

Do you believe in purchasing stuff off the net?

My LDS does the service on my first stages only, I got some training (nitrox) from one of the owners, and a few small pieces likeorings and some clips and things of that kind. I thinks its nice to support the LDS, however I don't think I should pay his kids college tuition in one sale. there are...

How Long For Freeflow To Empty Tank?

I read through this thread and boy does my head hurt. I have seen the logic on all side of the different theorys. But I pose this statement for your consideration: If I inflate my wing on the surface it takes about 10 seconds from empty to 1/2 full. At depth it takes longer to inflate it to...

Mix & Match SP with Oceanic?

one has absolutly nothing to do with the other. The second stage doesn't "know" what kind of first stage is feeding it air.... as far as a shop servicing it, if the shop tech is certified-qualified for that brand it doesn't matter what configuration it is. the first and second stages get...
