So if I get this right you are OW certified and wanting to dive solo???
Your particular dive site you picked does not sound very good but any site can be dove if the right measures are taken. From what I see you are in for a lot of lost time. AL40s are not sidemount tanks. If you want the trial...
You have an excellent view on things. Its good to be advantageous.
It can go many ways but in SM diving in a SM cave it really does no good. Like you said in an earlier post. One major restriction and you are solo diving. If you are solo diving it does not matter if you have 4 7ft hoses it is...
Though we preach the buddy system I approach every dive as a solo dive. I will not rely on a team mate to complete a dive. I will need to be completely self sufficient before I will make a dive.
In a complete SM team a 7ft hose is really excess cargo as one should never need to donate air...
My DSS 26 wing has a tear on the seam about 2 in long exposing the bladder. The bladder is in good shape and is not torn only the outer fabric. How does one repair this???
None of my choices are safe for all... In the kids program I DiveMastered in for a while I dove with 12yr olds the were great divers right out of the box. Just excellent! My brother is 32 and he too was GREAT from OW. Now My dad got certified in 1986 and has dove a lot and he is a horrible diver...
No flame here either man. I really appreciate your stand on our sport and thank you for your efforts. I do not ever advocate breaking training its just here in north Florida training is a little different then say our south Florida counterparts.
Its just hard for me to stand on the "NO...
I started my cavern training a year after my OW. Had over 100 dives by then. 7 months later I took my Intro to cave. I have been Intro for a year and a half. I did it at the right time and was ready for the class.
Well my gosh!!!:shocked2: How close to death I was every time my buddy swam over me or when a boat went by up top. :depressed: I'll remember to have my reel in hand for such events in the future.
Absolutely we did. I, like 100s of new OW divers every year do at these same sites. Is it wrong??? Again its your own call... If it were not for those sites I would not have been interested in cave at all. OW dive sites would be limited to the ocean and some lakes. Very few OW basin springs...
First off my OW check out dives were done in Florida caverns Blue Grotto and Devils Den. Both are full of overhead environment. I spent the next many months diving those 2 and Paradise and many other spring water caverns. Was it safe????? Your call!!! I enjoyed it very much and would not change...
I like LP95s they are 8" but short so they ride pretty well. The 7" tanks are really nice but I have the best luck with LP95s. At 3600psi they are at a volume of 129cf so they give plenty of gas for my dives.
Why would this even be an option? "as observed" really? That's confusing!!!
"As worn" is the only way that does not lean to confusion. "As observed" leaves it open. Observed from where, face to face?, off to the side?,following behind? from above?
Right tank should always mean ("as worn") tank...
#1 you can call Edd at cave adventurers and he will sell you a SMS100 cheaper than anyone else and he will also modify it at your request. Some of the hardware will cost a little bit extra but Edd will not be undersold. You will get the best deal from him.
I dive a SMS100D with many...
I dive a really short hose on my RIGHT tank (yes right tank). It comes straight up and in a necklace bungee.
My long hose is on my LEFT tank and comes up around my neck and down. It has a clip but unless it is high flow I usually do not clip it.
This method id rare but it keeps my chest clean...
