I have had the luxury of visiting dozens and dozens of shops all across the state of Florida. And I can tell you that some are great and some you couldn't pay me to go back inside. With Florida there is several different niches and markets so no two shops are alike. Almost all shops will market...
Why won't it? I would agree if that charge was for every suit you wanted to try on but if you intended on buying a suit the from that shop I don't see the problem with it. so many people go to dive shops to window shop and then go home and buy it online for cheaper.
What exactly is an "elite" diver anyway?
I know many in the cave world that think of themselves that way but that's just because they're the hero in their own story.
If this is an anyway a serious post OP seek out the instructor and not the title. But it will start an end with your mindset.
SS backplate. If you find yourself having to carry any weight at all the first should be in your backplate. Plus a weighted backplate just feels better for me.
EDIT: I realize now I am in the side mount forum and didn't specify that my configuration was cave diving minded and not really used in open water unless we are in the spring cave environment.
Cave diving is a solo mentality sport. No diver should enter the water if they think they need to rely...
I'll weigh in to. My go to tanks are Faber LP95s. I love them. I have done 85s, 108s, &121s and I can tell you it was the 121s that were cumbersome due to the length. I'm 6'1” so they weren't terrible but they are extremely long for anything small cave. As far as volume though they offered more...
I dive sidemount and don't use long hoses anymore. I do use R/L second stages but before I had them I ran my right tank hose around my neck and both hung off a neckless.
I will ask if they want to plan the dive, if they do not then I will. I will go over what we will do and emergency procedures. We will make the dive diving the plan. If they wish to not listen then thats on them. I never disclose of my training and cridentails I merely act as a experienced OW...
Ive dove my regs in the ocean that I cave dive with... salt is what it is. Rinse it, take care of it, let openly air dry, and service it you will be fine. Thats for all gear not just regs.
Hollis's issue is they try to make it an ALL in one. They designed it with every type of diving in mind while not really making it mission specific. Edds mods make it a Cave/wreck diving sidemount rig exclusively.
I have not dove the other 2 but I really like the XDeep from the pictures.
When I am Keys diving I go for shallow reef dives. I love all the fish and colors. I could care less about going deep and staying down, I cave dive for that. With that the 2 single BM AL80s are more then enough for the 45min-1hr dives they allow you. Its just a whole lot easier IMO for the...
Oh yes. I have been diving my SMS100 for 2 years. Have over 100 dives on it. No more BM for me unless I'm in the Keys diving.
I will break out the camera tomorrow,
I dont think Hollis will change the 100. What they did do was create the SMS75 and the SMS50 and incorporated many of the modifications that have taken place on the 100s being sold. I believe they will keep the 100s the same. The modifications are not hard to do your self you just need a few...
It was not anything you ever "had" to fix. Just really good practical modifications that made the SM unit really good for cave diving. They are all DIY modifications nothing came from Hollis. The modifications that come standard on the 75 that did not on the 100 are Smaller upper bladder leaving...
