    Molokai via Maui in March

Thanks for the info... Cali, I've contacted EH in past trips re: Molokai and they gave me the usual answer of "if conditions permit...", which I completely understand. Xjae, you really lucked out on that one...score!

    Wing Inflator hose length

From a hogarthian standpoint, I don't know if inflator hose length is anything more than personal preference. I have the short inflator on my Oxycheq wing because it is always in the same place. In other words, it's just short enough so after it goes through the bungee at the shoulder D-ring...

    Molokai via Maui in March

Yeah, not really counting on it. Pretty much wondering if my chances are 0% or .01% ;)

    Molokai via Maui in March

Just booked another 2 week trip to Maui in early March! We're planning on doing a couple of 3 Tanks with Ed Robinson's as usual, as well as 1 or 2 trips to Lanai. We'd also like to do Molokai...I know we have the option of taking a jumper over to Molokai. I also know the Maui based ops...

    Diving in Maui

The Grand Wailea is very close to some great shore dives. Shark dives...Don't know of any shark dives, but Molokini is almost always good for white tips, grey reefs, the occasional Galapagos, whale sharks (3-4 times a year), and someone even got a picture of a great white there, though that...

    Diving in Maui

Maui has some great diving, both shore and boat dives. Where you'll dive really depends on where you're staying. I stay in Kihei when I go to Maui and there are some great shore dives in that area and it is a quick boat ride to Molokini as well. If you're staying in West Maui, Lahaina or...

    December 5th Molokini backwall dive

I'm not sure other ops do this, but I always use ERDA because they have 2 boats, and 3 days a week one of the boats does a 3 tank dive that is geared towards more experienced divers. The plan is always to do at least 1 of the dives at the backwall (conditions permitting :D ). As stated...

    Drysuit Rentals/Courses

Matt at Northwest Sports Divers rents drysuits as well (another disclosure statement...I'm a staff instructor at that LDS). Would be a bit of a hike from Bremerton, but depending on where you end up diving, may not be that far. HTH Brian

    December 5th Molokini backwall dive

We've done the backwall at least once on every trip I've done with ERDA. We've done the backwall twice on more than one occasion.

Wildcard survives the tiger shark encounter

We did it in February and had a great time...the dive was between 40-60 minutes and we used our own gear. If I remember right it was in the neighborhood of $200-$250... Brian

    Mix and Match Regs

I'm partial to DIN Jason, so I'd probably stick to the Scubapro....The IP for Scubapro regs should be in the the 128-139 range, and the Mares should be in the 128-132 range, so if the IP on the MK16 is set to the low end, you should be fine. I don't know how many dive vacations you do, but...

    Diving Hawai'i - wetsuit choices

I agree with the thicker suit as well. Our last trip there we did 22 dives over 8 days and I was getting cold with a 3mm full towards the end of the trip. Like others have said, a lot of it will depend on how much diving you'll be doing. I'll definitely bring a 5mm with me next time.

    9/30 Maui pics

Gotcha. Haloa Point is one of my favorite shore dives on Maui. I've always had awesome dives there.

    Fraud

Toby- You need to involve the police in this and let it run it's course. While it may be punishable by 6 months in jail, chances are if its a first offense, it will be much less. If it's not the first offense, that's an entirely new issue. If he just walks away from this, he'll do it...

    Seattle Aquarium Volunteer

It's not a bad situation. Before each dive, you go into the Dome viewing area and do a presentation to all the visitors. You talk about the critters in the Dome, what you'll be feeding them, etc. After you're done you get asked all sorts of questions by the visitors and I'm sure they'd be...

    Seattle Aquarium Volunteer

An interpreter walks around the Aquarium answering questions basically. I think you are assigned to once specific area and answer questions that any visitors have. I think you go through 3-4 full day classes to learn about the critters at the Aquarium. Then, once you complete 100 hours as an...

    Scooping the crotch strap?

I just gear up, lean forward, reach between my legs and grab the crotch strap. The trick I've found is to make sure the the strap is not tangled adn is clear before putting on the gear. Other than that, I've had no problems grabbing the strap that way.

    Seattle Aquarium Volunteer

It was a little different when we first started. We did a checkout dive at Alki, then had a couple of orientation dives in the Dome and then were put on the schedule. Now, you have to volunteer as an interpreter for 100 hours. Once you hit 100 hours you are put on the list for the next...

    PADI Open Water Knowledge Reviews

When I went through my PADI Divemaster training, I was told this was the only acceptable alternative to using the actual knowledge reviews out of the book. I don't know if that's true, and I never bothered to look it up as I switched to NAUI.
