Chicago Newbie heading to Maui in Feb. to complete open water cert. - questions

I'm going to Maui next month to get married! While I can't speak for the shops in Chicago, on Maui I would recommend Maui Dreams Dive Company. Great people and good instructors on staff. They are in south Kihei, very close to Wailea. B and B Scuba has a good reputation as well, but can't...

    Diving Kauai Feb 2005

Generally, in the winter time you're going to be confined to the south end (Poipu). The north end and the Napali coast are usually way too rough for diving/snorkeling that time of year. I was there last Feb and stayed up north, the weather was beautiful, but there was no way we could dive up...

Cool! We do it on Feb 23rd. I'm hoping they'll have a tiger by then. How long was the dive?

    Hoodscanal This past weekend

Congrats on the DM cert! I think it'll be much better for you in the long run to work as a dm for a while before doing any instructor training. Although I learned a lot in my dm course, I learned much more actually working as a dm (practical experience).

    Cannister Batteries and Flying

I normally put my light cannister in my carry on bag and have had a couple of questions, but no issues with it yet. I would suggest bringing along a copy of the instructions that came with the light. If it becomes an issue you can use the instructions to help explain it to them.

    Come watch Wildcard get eaten!

WC, that's was the case as of a week ago, but I know they are aggressively trying to 'catch' another for the tank. They may have one by the time you're there.

    maui!!! here we come!

While I prefer Molokini, the Cathedrals, IMO, are worth the trip. Be prepared for a long, very rough, very wet, ride. If you get seasick, start taking your meds the day before. There were several people on our boat feeding the fish. I rarely get seasick and I felt a little woozy on the...

    Come watch Wildcard get eaten!

We are diving in the MOC Shark tank when we're there in February. They don't have a Tiger in there right now, but hope to have one by then. The dive is usually 45-60 minutes long. I can't wait, I think it'll be awesome.

    maui!!! here we come!

Not sure about the locations for the aow class. I suppose it depends on the instructor...though it is really tough to get deeper than 45' on almost all the shore dives around Kihei (the closest shore dive that goes deeper is Scenic Lookout, to my knowledge), so I think you'd have to do Molokini...

    maui!!! here we come!

Islandtime, what kind of diving are you talking about in particular? Maui Dreams, to my knowledge, do shore dives only. I use them for all my weights and fills, but I'm not aware of them doing any boat dives. For boat diving I personally recommend Ed Robinson's. B & B and Mike Severns have a...

lp inflator hose length for Oxycheq wing?

Thanks for the info Joel... I checked out your website and you have 18" and 22" hoses listed, but no 20". Do you have any 20" hoses in stock? If so, what is the price and how do I go about ordering one? Thanks, Brian

lp inflator hose length for Oxycheq wing?

Come to think of it, I received the same hose with mine (I already had a 22" for the wing I was using at the time). I'll let you know if I find a 20", but I think anything shorter than 22" will have to be custom.

lp inflator hose length for Oxycheq wing?

Well Bob, if a 24" spg works for you then I shouldn't have a problem! :D I'll try the 24" spg hose again. It works fine on my doubles, just seems a little short on the single tank setup. I'm 5'10" so it seems like it should work. Thanks for the feedback. As far as the lpi hose, the...
