What undergarment for drysuit are you wearing?

Diving in European freshwater lakes on average. Winter temperatures are down to 4C or around 40F. Diving in a DUI Flex Extreme 450 trilam drysuit, combined with a DUI XM250 undersuit. A base layer of ski thermo long sleeves and trousers. My bioprene prevents the use of an XM450 at the moment...

    Weight option for doubles

Its amazing but having it shipped over will be a bit to much indeed. Good luck finding a proper solution if needed.

    Weight option for doubles

I use the weight ass per picture below. Diving Steel D2ltr/200bar, bioprene and a drysuit requires some extra weight. It's not cheap but works very good. I've got a set for my D12's and D8,5's

Lights: Nanight Sport 2 vs. Sola 1200

No Idea what you did with them, maybe the oldest version with no external charging? In this case is flooding all those lights maybe not an issue of the lamp but the operator and charger? I'm using my Tech 2 weekly as do 4 clubmembers their sport 2 in depths upto 45m. No issues at all. Had the...

Your Opinion: Using Small LP Scuba Cylinder for Emergency O2?

That's what I'm going to do after the hydro of my 40Cuff later this year. All equipment is avaialable and I've got a 02 clean stage as on demand system and an adapter and a 02 free flow reducer and mask for free flow. To say it in Dutch. "Beter me verlegen dan om verlegen. A rough translation...

    Drysuit with disabilities

I know a German diver diving a dry-suit at our local lake, I have no idea if he has a adapted suit and he has possibly still some control in his legs. It is possible and when familiar with the suit may-be even easier than a wet suit as you can control buoyancy in your legs. Getting gaitors on...

What are your dive goals / dreams for 2024?

Complete my TEC50, follow the adaptive techniques specialty. Just dive, assist as DM and who know an IDC-IE but this will be a tight fit planning wise.

DIR- Generic Drysuit inflation bottle- vertical or horizontal valve?

Thanks for the information Jack. Fill pressure is indeed 200/207 bar officially. 1 dive only is not worth it in this case, I'm not (yet) trimix certified and not sure if this will ever happen. Happy diving, Bas

DIR- Generic Drysuit inflation bottle- vertical or horizontal valve?

A little hack in your post Travisfull. I'm looking into an "argon"Cylinder as well and are wondering about the size to buy. <1ltr capacity is in the Netherlands free of hydrostatic testing but is the 0.85ltr cylinder volume sufficient? Kind regards, Bas

    Profiles old Suunto Gecko

Good day all, In a Dutch Facebook thread somebody made the remark his Gecko, "locked" after 2 consecutive dives at depth in Egypt when diving on air. Somebody mentioned to him he should switch his computer to Nitrox 21 (Air), and apparently he did not suffer from a "locked out"computer since...

Can a New Diver Develop Buoyancy Skills in a Pool?

Would it not be more favourable to have the DM's hover in a horizontal position behind/beside you/the trainee? Being in a lotus hover removes me from my agility in the water. If I need to act quickly this is not the best position for me personally. Hovering 1/2 feet of the deck makes it easier...

    Formulas for IDC

It looks like you've ended up in the wrong part of the forum. For the forumula's check your PADI training booklets and or the Encyclopaedia of Diving?? If I'm correct all formula's have been mentioned in my DM training materials. Succes studying.

    Do You Dive With GPS?

Not to be a pain in the a.. but the location of your EPIRB makes it non existing more or less. An EPIRB should be free floating and preferably via a HRU, and anyway stationed outside free to float up without any covers. At least that's the case for vessels trading under the SOLAS regulations...

    Do You Dive With GPS?

Oke, maybe times are changing as I did not see a GPS EPIRB in the 25y I'm at sea on commercial ocean going tankers. Till recently you needed a power feed or constant GPS feed towards the unit. Going from "dead" to "alive" and a proper GPS fix could take a lot of time without a pre defined position.

    Do You Dive With GPS?

A standard Solas approved Epirb does not have a GPS input. Its position is determined by the doppler shift of the frequency measured by the receiving satellite. The circular area of probable location is about 3NM. This is nice to have in case of emergency to give the MRCC a position to work...

    miflex colors

Maybe just follow the instructions of minimum bend radius. Using a miflex 6" and turning it into a U is more or less kinking them. In this case the failure of the hose is not a normal failure but a made up failure by user error. Just my 2eurocents. spotted a typo, many more can be visible ;-)

Do you own an emergency oxygen unit?

Hyperventilating is one of the few reasons not to issue O2 if I'm correct. Hyperventilating and the dizzy feeling is a lack of CO2 your system triggering the breathing impulse extra. Administering extra O2 will not be helpful unfortunately. In the Netherlands the standard "cure" for a...

    Flooded Light, new light recommendations?

A bit late to the party but using the Nanight Tec2 now 1,5y and happy with it. Diving normally in Dutch (the Netherlands, Holland) murky waters and it has more than sufficient power, at times to much and tuning back to the lowest setting is needed. (particulates suspended in the water colum) In...
