Mares quad air won't display tank pressure on boat

The same happens with the Suunto's D series and the Oceanic Dive computer with AI. You have to set them into "dive mode" on the boat to check the tank pressure before you hit the water. They simply do not show tank pressure on "time mode". What is happening now is that your Mares starts showing...

I need to repair my Datamask...Any help?

dmcutter, Scubapro just put out its Galileo HUD dive computer. DIfferent to the Oceanic you have, this model it's not permanently attached to "a mask". Instead, you can fit it to many of Scubapro's masks (and I believe even some other brand masks). FYI, it does have a compass, has a full OLED...

I need to repair my Datamask...Any help?

Shoredivr, 50% hunch and 50% experience. From the symptoms, I was pretty sure it was a software or firmware glitch rather than a catastrophic electronic failure. When this happens, to force a hard reset (i.e. shorting the battery terminals) sometimes clears the glitch. Some other times it...

I need to repair my Datamask...Any help?

dmcutter, Glad the procedure unlocked your Datamask. Old dogs sometimes have tricks up their sleeves that work.

I need to repair my Datamask...Any help?

dmcutter, first remove the battery and then connect for a few seconds the "+" and "-" terminals in your Datamask battery compartment. To do this, peel off the two ends of a short cable and use the cable to simultaneously touch the "+" and "-" terminals in your Datamask.

I need to repair my Datamask...Any help?

dmcutter, from your description of how events unfolded I am afraid your Datamask electronics are kaput or, more likely, its firmware got corrupted. I'd go with the corrupt firmware guess because it is responding in an erratic way (lightning up the whole display). Last-ditch attempt: Remove the...

Checking seal on computer with pump sprayer.

boat sju, You are right, my avatar is a picture of one of our Bergeon dive computer pressure testers. These pressure testers were developed by the Swiss watch industry to test the high-end dive watches (Rolex, Omega, etc) without flooding a $ 10,000 watch due to a defective rear case gasket, a...

Checking seal on computer with pump sprayer.

boat sju, Yes putting a DC in a pump sprayer with water and pressurizing it will be equivalent to taking your computer to a 90 feet dive (to continue with your example of 40 psi max pressure). However, your procedure would be only safe for dive computers with a battery compartment separate...

A good computer for an infrequent diver. (battery concerns)

Nothing will happen to your computer by sitting on a shelf for ten months, provided the battery is lithium and not alkaline. Lithium batteries don't leak whereas alkaline after some time do. While sitting on a shelf, though, unless you can put your computer into sleep mode -which I doubt- the...

I need to repair my Datamask...Any help?

IronheadLee, no hopes with your Datamask. Once seawater gets in contact with the electronics is damaged beyond repair. Dmcutter, can you describe the exact problem with your Datamask? We might be able to help (unless it was also flooded).

I am attaching a complete PDF version of the Mares Guardian User Manual (CDMac's version seems incomplete). On the Operating Instructions section, page 38, you'll find how to change units.

    Sherwood The Source Computer

Frank Storms, Indeed you own the first version of the Source Sherwood dive computer (the second version uses two (2) CR2032, 3V batteries. If after turning the computer on it goes through the self-check routine and shuts off (instead of entering the surface mode) I would say the module is...

    geo2 screen defect

f1hakkinen, Unfortunately, your Geo2 dive computer is dead. No way to resurrect it unless you replace the entire electronic module which is not available anymore. We might provide some ideas but need to know how much can you spend to buy a new (or used) DC?

    Need watch o-ring

Scuba lawyer, I believe your initial post is inconsistent. If the Oring is an AS568-025 the cross-section is 1/16" and not 0.8 mm. Southside gave you a correct lead: Esslinger does sell metric 0.8 mm cross-sections Orings. But you still have to measure the ID diameter (suggest you use a...
