    choosing back BCD?

Hi rwidjaj, these kinds of posts tend to usher in the whole lot of BP/W users recommending a BP/W instead of a back inflate (me included), and then another bunch of posts suggesting the light weight versatility of the back inflate BC being superior over the BP/W.:shakehead: If you're looking...

    Show off your Bp/W rigs?

Yes, tightness of the cam bands keep it in place. As I recall, the travel wings should have grommets in their vertical midline webbing. If you want the wing fixed to your BP, you could always use a set of assembly bolts (sex bolts).

Apeks Status - another reason to avoid gimmicks

I chose Apeks for the very reason SangP pointed out; it's used by armed forces in many countires. And as ZenDiver pointed out, I wasn't thrilled by the idea of having extra gimmicks that may fail in an otherwise trustworthy reg. As for the OP's status not functioning, maybe a dead battery...

    Scubapro Dry Suits

I have the original Fusion from Whites, which has the same dry core but a more simple spandex outer shell compared to the scubapro Fusion ( Whites manufactures them OEM for Scubapro) I'm not sure about the buoyancy of the SP's outer shell, but my fusion dives with the exact same weight as a 5mm...

    Show off your Bp/W rigs?

With two cambands threaded through the slots on the BP and wing. (Note that the wings are attached to a tank in this picture)

    Passing Decom Time

First, I didn't understand how an inactive gas can destroy LCDs and batteries, since I was thinking chemical-reaction-wise. I'm guessing you're implying that helium can seep in through the seals adding pressure inside the housing, which is understandable to me. Then, the added pressure may...

    travel with BP/wing

I carry my computer and camera and housing. Everything else is checked in. (All my dive trips take place in Asia, and losing checked in luggage is rather rare)

    Which Apeks to get?

For recreational diving, I would value the small size and lightness over the versatility of the turret and routing options the 5th port will bring, because of the extra weight and length. Performance wise, there shouldn't be any differences compared to other Apeks models. Some tech divers I know...

    Which Apeks to get?

I have an XTX200 and love it. It's smaller and lighter compared to XTX50 that features a turret.

    Uwatec Splendido??

Splendido was an OEM brand manufactured (exclusively?) for a certain Japanese dive shop chain, N's game by ScubaPro. Since MSRP for dive gear are high in Japan, allowing LDSs to adjust prices through discount, and Splendido being a no-discount brand, divers in Splendido brand divegear have been...

Neat Little Tricks Are Good to Know

I also use baby shampoo as defog for my mask. Unlike other stuff, it won't hurt your eyes. And the folded tissue paper along with the desiccant is what I practice too. Same reason Evie gave.

    Is a Backplate/wing worth it?

Me and my wife both dive a BP/W, and haven't had any issues. Just make sure the "Technical" BP/W has the properly sized wings for your dives, because the word "Technical" just might be pointing to a doubles wing. (I'm speculating you'll be diving singles)

    Buoyancy of Fusion Skins.

I dive a Fusion sport LG/XL. With a Mk0 undergarment, I needed the same weight as diving a 5mm wetsuit. Since the Tech skin is made of neoprene, it should be slightly more buoyant than the sport skin, but probably not much. Hope this helps

    DIN to yoke adaptor stuck

Hi everyone, thanks for your input. I tried the hot'n'cold dip a couple of times, but the thing would't budge. As for yanking the yoke, I already had managed to unscrew the yoke part off from the base (unlike some products, this one has a two-piece construction and unscrews at the base of the...

    Maldives - Where to Stay?

Depends heavily on what you're looking for, budget, etc. Since your visit will be short, you would want to look into resorts in the North or South Kaafu atolls to maximize the time you can spend diving and relaxing. The airport island, Hulhule is situated in the south east corner of the North...

    Nitek Duo software for Mac...

Hi Kathleen, I just noticed this thread. Don't count on Seiko coming up with any Mac support, any kind. I think the majority of non Japanese underestimate the overt conservatism the Japanese has towards many things, including computers. Here, anything that isn't considered "world standard" is...
