Nobody, including the instructor, has worn one in my tech diving course.
I do find them useful when I am snorkeling on a non-diving day...but not when I am diving.
Back when I was 10 years old, and before I ever had a pressure guage, I did run out of air at the bottom of a river. I immediately planted my feed on the river bed - stood up so my head was out of the water- and walked back to the bank.
Since I have used a pressure guage - no. Gas is life...
I'd suggest trimix and lessons in gas management before doing a wreck dive at 130'. It will be a lot safer and probably a lot more enjoyable. Just my 2 psi.
Yay me!!
I was playing with the computer on an airplane last night and found out that the cabin was pressurized to around 3500 feet. (Commuter Southwest flight from Dallas to Houston).
Now all it needs is the ability to make phone calls and check email and I have the ultimate wrist...
One of the first things I learned after donning a tank is that the tank valve must be positioned so that you can reach back and turn it. Frankly, I'm not sure why you would want another piece of equipment in front of you.
For me, I have a reg in my mouth, one on a necklace and my pressure...
Welcome to the board. If you live in Texas there are a number of dive sites within a few hours: lake Travis, the Flower Gardens, Gulf rig dives and Cozumel. Well the last one is close by plane and not too expensive.
Regarding your ears, I would go see an ear nose and throat doctor to check...
Bought a Mares X vision after my old mares mask finally died after about 18 years. Easy to clear and great downwards vision as I putmy pressure guage on my shoulder strap. Just a slight tilt down and I can see how much air I have left.
Cant comment on the other two. I will say that if I...
Might have a little insight after talking with a female friend and my LDS about BCDs. First, if you are long waisted, you could consider the scubapro knighthawk instead. From what I gather it is very similar to the ladyhawk but designed for a shorter torso. Also, my LDS usually sells the...
While I have not tried to find my personal breath holding limit in years, back when I was 13 I was able to do 3 minutes. Not too shabby for being asthmatic as a child. (Allergy induced - and yes my doctor signed off on diving).
As far as how well the backplate and rapid diver bc work together, you might want to contact Zeagle. They were very helpful to me when I had a regulator question.
As far as being pushed forward with your bp/w, have you considered some trim weights on the lower tank band? What about only...
well if money was no object I would have to get an Oroboros... or maybe a Meg.
But if we are talking open circuit - perhaps the top of the line Zeagle Flathead regulator. I have a oxycheq wing and hammerhead backplate and dont see changing that. I still love my plana avanti fins which I...
The Brigade is a fine BC. Unless you either hate it or need a new bc for a different type of diving stick with what you have.
As far as bp/w goes - It actually feels fine on bare skin. Granted I have not tried to put it on when it was very cold outside. Also, I purchased an oxycheq wing...
A buddy of mine was fishing there about a month ago. He said he could see the coral domes from the surface, about 50 feet down. (No, he wasn't throwing lines out over divers.)
I'm not sure of the actual regulations regarding women travellers in Saudi Arabia. However many Arab countries tend enact different standards for Muslims versus non-muslim visitors. For instance, from what I understand, alcohol is legal for non-muslims in the UAE but illegal for muslims...
I guess things change over the years. At age 13 I hit 85' on my third open water dive. Granted, I was the only kid in the group of people doing their open water checkout. Also, I had already hit puberty. I'm not sure how this would apply to an eleven year old girl. Another possibility is...
