    Hammerhead or DeepSeaSupply Plate?

I have used both and own a hammerhead. I like the hammerhead due to the deeper groove in the middle. On the other hand, I have had to drill out the holes to fit the larger bolts found on some doubles tanks as well as make an oblong hole at the bottom of my plate for bolts which are not spaced...

    Reigning most popular BCD line?

Strange, but I was in Cozumel a couple of weeks ago and saw two Dutch divers (recreational/sport) with Halcyon gear in a non DIR setup. I dive with oxycheq.

Overwhelmed Beginner looking for a BC

Lots of good advice here. However, trying out some of the different types in the field is really the best way to go. For instance, a jacket style with nice soft padding will usually feel better in a store while wearing a t-shirt than a bp/w. (actually I really dont like my bp/w when hiking to...

    Big Knife on BC?

One of the things that I find most useful about a bp/w is that a dive machete can easily be placed between the plate and the wing. This frees up you leg and waist straps for multiple bang sticks.

    lil help here

I've used the scubapro and the apeks. I prefer the apeks, it just felt better breathing off of it. However, the atomic regs have an extra low pressure port that can be nice for hose routing on doubles from what I have seen. That being said, I currently dive with Zeagle Envoy Deluxes and...

    Loss of weights at depth

I dive a dual bladder BC, so I really dont see any reason to ditch weights. Besides, when I am in deco it would be really a bad idea...therefore I use an innertube rubber band to go around my weight buckle. I would like to find a double buckle like I have on my breitling dive watch. Until...

Ever been saved by your buddy?

Not sure on number of dives because I quit logging for a long time until recently. As far as saving a buddy...we were ascending next to a sailboat where we were living at the time when an idiot acquaintance motored up to the boat in a dinghy. I grabbed my buddy's fin and yanked as hard as...

    Purchasing my first setup

I'd suggest contacting scubatoys.com. They can help you with a good setup. As far as Sherwood being no good, I would re-think your decision. Its certainly fine if you dont want to go with that company, but they are quite popular in the rental industry as their regs can take a lickin' and...

    Zeagle N2ition Dive Computer feedback?

I've heard that the NiTec keeps people in deco longer than some others. If you are not doing this type of diving, I dont suppose it matters. You might want to ask Scott Zeagle in the Zeagle forum about his computer.... or call the company. Their customer service is wonderful and you may...

    What's your preference?

I have to go for the VR3 because it is upgradeable to damn near anything and allows me to switch gases at depth when I want to instead of when get to that particular depth. This is the reason I didnt go with a Cochran.

    I need new regs

Those scubapro regs will probably do you just fine for now. Additionally, most tech agencies (as far as I am aware) generally teach one deco tank until you start getting into hypoxic trimix and really long deco times. For my deco reg I have a cochran, but you could do quite well with...

VR3 faulty "dive mode" on the surface

Admit it. Your wife is a trimix closed circuit technical rebreather diver who sneaks out on you at night to dive. Sounds like you should ship the unit back to Delta P. I've never had that problem with mine.

    N00b advice needed on BP/W

I'd google hammerhead backplate. These guys make a nice heavy backplate out of 316 marine grade stainless. It has slots for cam bands if you dont want to use single tank adapters and has multiple hole placements for mounting doubles. Also - and this is the biggie - it tends to be less...
