    anyone using a regulator necklace?

I don't like the rubber necklace. Didn't work well with my lip guard, and hung a bit loose for my liking. Same problem with zip tying the bungee, it didnt let the guard sit properly. Yep. I have lip guards on both my secondaries. Whatchya gonna say about it!?!? With bungee tied with...

    Harness rigging question

Any harness webbing. Webbing is cheap. Put the Al plate aside for vacation, save 4 pounds of luggage. LDS should have your gear, or DiveGearExpress has all the hardware and webbing you need for low price.

    Inverted

Except the last time I heard that joke was when I was learning the dangers of diving in a drysuit... Mentor: "Here, hold onto this big rock while I inflate yohr suit so from now on you know what wrong feels like... Me: "I'm good to go now... 30 seconds later Mentor: "Where did you go?" Me...

Getting back into diving in a new location with no shops or dive buddies.

Never underestimate the guy servicing gear out of his garage. Some of the best tech divers I know do just that, and I trust my service to them. Get a pony if it'll make you feel better, but get one with enough air to actually help. At 90' you probably will burn through close to 6-8cf/min...

    Low Tech DIY diving setup

You're missing out on the refill rate, and the appropriate pressure. Most second stages operate at between 110 and 150psi. Youre also missing out on the refill rate. IIRC my SAC rate is around .85 cfm. So you'd need a pump that could maintain no less than 150psi at 1cfm. Just to breathe on the...

    Backpacking with dive gear

Ive been considering my options. Less for backpacking for recreation and more because I'm interested in hitting some rather remote locations. Since I'll need to bring my tanks that means a pack of no less than 125lbs. I'm drafting up some plans for a more comfortable waistbelt and shoulder...

Installing and using a Pee valve in a semi-dry wetsuit? Anyone have any feedback?

I dive an 8/7 henderson semi dry and I couldnt see a pee valve being reasonable. I get enough flush I wouldn't imagine it was a reasonable addition. Plus, my suit is so tight I couldnt imagine being able to get a pee valve hooked up and the suit on without introducing more complications, not to...

    Deep cave diving

Not doubting the level of difficulty of getting gear into the cave, and the map of the cave proves it is very very steep. Multiple established camp sites, long vertical rappels and climbs, and tight passages. Still, the gear they brought in they measured in tons. And the exploration team was...

How to secure gloves in pockets?

Or safely secured in a dive box on the boat. Bigger question may be why you needed to take the gloves off in the first place. And your pocket isn't secure. By definition, if it was secure you would still have your gloves.

    Deep cave diving

Interesting article to say the least. The diver only extended the range by some 100 meters or so. Wonder why such a short dive.

Looking To Buy: Canister Light - Minimum 15w

Definately worth reading the reviews on that light. There is a reason that he sells so many of those light. You may pay three times that much for a quality LED light from one of your three listed, even on the second hand market. Also, have you considered UW Light Dude or Dive Rite lights...

    Advice on buying a BCD

A BP&W isn't bad over the shore. The backplate makes for a very stable load with a tank strapped on, a backplate pad doesn't provide a ton of padding, but does insulate from the steel, the Halcyon BP in particular has a very fine finish, meaning no rough edges to scrape and cut, and the waist...

The New Revolutionary Safe Diving System "Medusa"

Now, instead of buying one computer that can handle multiple gasses, I will finally be able to use six different computers, all set to a single gas mix. I'll color code the computer to the regulator so I can do complex decompression with absolutely no risk at all. And when diving in cold...

    Skills Poll

Unless it's training I'm not sure I'd spend a whole tank practicing skills, but practicing good trim, working different kicks, practicing deploying the long hose, little stuff like that I do almost every dive. Just because I'm not doing OOA drills doesn't mean I'm not practicing. my view at least.

Trace, I loved learning from you, and I learned a TON from you. So when I disagree, it's with the utmost of respect. I'm grateful my very first instructor asked me where I thought diving would take me. When I talked about caves and wrecks he told me to focus on the endstate. It's the...
