thanks dave for the picture and the wetuit info. I was able to get like 8-10 feet below the surface to grab a starfish, and then back down to set him (or her) back down but that was a LOT of kicking. I can see where weights and maybe even fins come into play. Thanks again.
So first off I got my suit on (by myself today, which feels like HUGE step) and went into the water at Salmon Bay. A friend and I just snorkeled around with cheapo mask set. Fins would have been helpful, gloves would have been nice and a hood would have been GREAT. Water was cold, but the only...
went much much smoother today, got it on and ready to be zipped solo and with relatively little swearing, crying, or throwing of items. Still haven't got it zipped solo, flaps seem to be uncooperative, but that is my next goal.
Great idea, I will have to try that....
next time I put a condom on. LOL
Good ideas folks, I think I can do it solo but not without a workout. I am going to put it on today and just go swim around in the lake to get a feel for it.
thanks folks, the suit may in fact be a bit small but I fear the bigger size would be too roomy as far as the running around stuff. Mostly to be funny really (my neice thought I looked like an "old fat uper hero") but lso as I have never dived I wasn't sure how much motion I would want, so I...
So I received my very first wetsuit today (A gift I hope to use many times over).
As it is my first I had never put one on before. I had read the Scuba Knowtes info, and had seen a few threads on SB about other folks having gone through this for the first time.
It was near 80 today and I was...
how lame, I am rerally sorry to hear that Amy. Thieves suck. I also keep an eye on ebay and craigslist constantly. I hope the suit and Dave are reunited and the crook goes to jail or at least gets the fuzzy end of the karmic lollipop.
I googlrd it alo, and came up with articles about a dead fisherman. No name released, no cause of death or dtails and that it had been the fourth death in that area that year. No info about weight belts that I found.
in time I expect I would get into a computer (thanks for the suggestion where that is concerned) for now I am just outfitting for my OW class as well as my first dives beyond that.
thanks folks.
no, no westusit just yet but am looking at an akona one piece 7mm so I figure I could start gearing toward putting it on. I am still a few weeks from class (driving me nuts) but just trying to be READY ready.
thank you to everyone. As always I appreciate the info.
Stairman, I wasn't trying to be rude. Just noticed that everyone was from elsewhere. I think thaats cool, and I was unaware of the new threads thing. Thanks again.
In my defense I am not cert'ed and only know a very little info rom reading SB. For the life of me though I can't picture what is meant by weight belt under crotch strap.
diver 85 I would love to see the link you mentioned. I need a basic diving watch, and I'd rather go cheap too. I figure here will be PLENTY of opportunities to spend money as I take up tis hobby. ;)
I would try just wearing a regualr girls swimsuit, but I would feel funny being seen in it (I am a guy) so maybe I should start with my regular suit, and get something skimpier (Woooohoooooo) if that is not comfy.
p.s. Florida? Il? Ca? You guys spying on the PNW or something? ;)
I think the problem is that if you never do it you will never make a mistake. It is not that I am afraid of a clearly unloaded or unarmed weapon, its that the person holding it should teach themselves to never allow themselves to be so irresponsible with a weapon so that they never have to worry...
