    halcyon Eclipse troubles?

I wonder if it is possible that your tank band buckle has not been threaded properly. Therefore coming undone, even though you are cranking the heck out of it? Henry

    Double PST E-8's

In my opinion, diving twins is taking small steps towards the tech world. Twins are ideal while diving nitrox and you are on a long extended dive. The nitrox will give you more bottom time and twins will allow ample gas plus reserve. The local wrecks which sit at about 140 on the bottom...

    Double PST E-8's

I have the E8-119. I have them twined up on a BP/W set up with a Halcyon 55# wing. I dive cold with a dry suit. My height is 5'9" which means the shorter tanks are really nice for trim and while I am setting up on shore. They strap on real easy on my tailgate with me standing upright. I've...

    Scuba Certification Rip Off

That's odd, because I met a guy who was the president of PADI Canadian division and there is a photo of his very nice looking office at my LDS. Henry

    Scuba Certification Rip Off

Oh yes you will write again. That's for sure. Except what you will be writing about is how much you love diving and have found a new shop to be friends with. You will write about the cool trips you've taken and all the local wrecks you've been on. And inevitabily, you will get in to a...

    Scuba Certification Rip Off

Ok, enough! First of all, fish_bowl, stop capitalizing every word that you type. What is the point of that except to give yourself a sore finger. Second, as badly as losing $300 feels right now, figure out a way to go diving anyway. When you've done about 1,000 dives and it is 10 years...

What happened to the thread on the Porteau Cove accident?

Thanks for the pat on the back. :10: But I don't have anything new to share at all and I have posted what I know already. I will definately acknowledge that I need to be real careful about what I put in cyber space. Having spoken to the recovery diver who phsically touched the body. I think...

    Air Fills in Vancouver

$1,000.00 will actually get you an unlimited fill for a year. That's what GPD had before the price increase. Incidentally, I believe GPD still has cheapest of the Vancouver stores for air fills (not counting the Island of course). I am also not sure for the suburbs.

    Any Vancouver Islanders Out There??

Some questions for you. Some local divers around Vancouver are balking at the fill prices and have been talking for quite a while abnout getting a private fill station. (all tech divers, not recreational). Where do you get your mix from? O2 and Helium. What do you do about liability when you...

    Any Vancouver Islanders Out There??

So, if most shops on the Island are filling for $100.00 unlimited for the year. Why do you bother with your own compressor? Just curious. Henry

    ? for Suunto Computer Users

logic would indicate that you will not have any problems with 4 dives a day if you dive proper profiles. If you dive less than 100 feet for 45 min to 1 hour with a nice easy ascent on each dive. Then plan a surface interval of at least one hour (the latter dives should have even more SI)...

Does gas go bad / expire / go stale in a tank?

Seriously, move closer to dive shop and dive site. It will make your life easier and I will feel less pain when I read you posts. Henry

    ? for Suunto Computer Users

I dive a Suunto Vytec and yes, it is very conservative. Some of my dive partners use Cochrans and they are way more aggresive. Someday I compare my NDL to theirs while we are at depth. I will have 0 min left and they will have as much as 12-13 min remaining ot NDL. Here is the deal, In the...

    Apeks ATX200 or TX50/DS4?

Oh, hey, no worries at all. After all If we all dove the samething, what would we talk about? ;) Where I bought the Pearls from they were the same price as the ATX200. No difference. I actually bought the 200's and the guy said why don't you take the Pearls because they are the same price...

    Apeks ATX200 or TX50/DS4?

Ah, yes. A closer inspection reveals that they both have the breathing resistance knob. But come on, Boogi. Wouldn't you like to touch my Pearls? Hahahahaha...... (It sounds funnier if you picture that last sentence said with a salty sea captain accent.) :eyebrow: Henry

    Apeks ATX200 or TX50/DS4?

This is very true. They are almost identical. The ATX200 has a breathing controll knob that I just leave open anyway, I don't ever use it. They both come with a venturi lever which is great for leaving off if you have a second one as octo or surface swim if it is your primary. They are both...

    Apeks ATX200 or TX50/DS4?

Breathes fine upside down. No freeflows or anything. When I was diving in the tropics, I always went upside down to look at certain things and had no problems at all. The only water that kinda of gets in your mouth is whatever water was in the reg to start with. For example if you did a surface...

    Gabriola

I just got back having dived Gab Pass on Monday. Great dive. Sooooo much life. We used Ocean Explorer out of Nanaimo. This is the second time that we have used that shop and have had great experience. Good service, friendly staff, excellent knowledge of local terrain and talk about overfills...

    Apeks ATX200 or TX50/DS4?

I own two ATX200 Black Pearls. Breathing is very smooth in cold water and at depth. They also breath very dry. In fact so dry, I have taken the reg out of my mouth just to lick the inside of my mouth to get some moisture in there. :D I dive with twins. So on my right side, I use one HP port...
