    Nitrox Certification

Padi doesn't set the class prices, just the books. The Instructor or dive operation set them.

Repairing my Viking rubber sport suit

Rough up the outside surface, clean it with alcohol and apply the patch the same as you would to an inner tube. I usually apply Aquaseal around the edges if the patch starts to lift.

Nitrox conversion for old US Divers Reg?

I'll find out the weekend of the 21st/22nd. The only dive I done here since Nov was last weekend in private lake. Vis was around 25 ft and temp at 35' was 56 deg. I'm headed to Manatee Springs (Chiefland, FL) Friday to certify a few students there, then Fantasy Lake (Rolesville, NC) with...

    putting together regulator

Ditto what both said but I'll ad that you should have the intermediate pressure checked and the second stage adjustments are correct. (breathes easy and doesn't freeflow).

    Nitrox Certification

We charge $130.00 and this includes everything required to complete the classroom work and open water dives at a local quarry. It does not cover boat fees if needed. So, if your boat dives are included, it's not too bad a deal.

Nitrox conversion for old US Divers Reg?

Randy pretty much hit it but you should contact USD for their opinion. Specifically ask why it can't be used and don't settle for an answer like "because, that is our stand on this." Get specifics.

Nitrox conversion for old US Divers Reg?

Try another LDS, Although I'm not real familiar USD equipment the O2 cleaning isn't that difficult, and you use orings and lubes that are O2 compatible. You can also contact USD for their opinion.

    can anyone freedive?

Along with what rab stated, you can hyperventillate yourself 2-3 quick deep breaths to build up extra O2 This should enable you to stay under longer. Don't over hyperventillate as it can cause you to pass out, and passing out in the water isn't a good thing.

    ID this Sherwood first stage

Yep, I agree too and the "3500" on the yoke means a max pressure of 3500 PSI which is stangard for most yoke style regs.

    JR Open Water Certificate

katy, Seeing that you just got your JOW C-Card, I assume that you just completed training successfully without problems with any skills. If that is the case, go back to your instructor and ask him to send in a new PIC envelope for the upgrade. It shouldn't cost you more than $15.00 or $20.00...

Make that old tank into a lamp.

That's pretty different. I also saw one the guy cut of the top, put a hinge on it and uses it to store spare toilet paper in his bathroom.

    "Out-of-air" and "share air" signals

No, it's out of context. PADI does require the air be turned of in the pool. The student is aware that it's going to happen, they hold their gauges in such a manner that we watch it hit "0" and they feel the restriction on breathing as the tank "empties". As soon as the gauge is at 0, the...

    "Out-of-air" and "share air" signals

If my buddy, (or anyone near) runs out of air they get my alternate. My primary is mine and I'm not the one that didn't watch my gauges. Besides, when you take your primary out of your mouth, you in essence have two divers without air. If your alternate is located properly and contrasts with...

    I Give up

slipslop. You don't want to give up! There are several things to try first. As the others have said, minimize your work underwater and try to breath in nice and deep then exhale slowly, taking 10-15 seconds to completely exhale. I'm sure others will have more great ideas.

Reg Svc $122, did I get robbed?

Not knowing the cost of Dacor, but having serviced many other brands, my opinion is you paid almost double what I would have charged.

    Question for Instructors

I partially agree with Walter on this. I've seen a lot of instructors that require a higher standard, (I require my students to receive an 80% or higher on the final), the vast majority of the others use the minimum standards on most skills and then I've know of 2 DMs that achieved this rating...
