    ScubaBoard SURGE Central 2019 Curacao

We loved Curacao ... not like we didn't enjoy Bonaire, too. How do y'all find the time to organize these trip?

    Exposure for Caribbean

FWIW, we were in Bonaire in January. Water temps between 78 - 81 F. I wore a Henderson Hot Skin with a Neo Sport 2mm vest. Very comfortable. Not too floaty. I stayed warm doing 12 dives that week. I've used a 3mm in GC many times. Fine in the water, but too hot while gearing up for shore...

    Buoyancy control

Just dive more. Spend more time in the shallows using proper weighting. It will come.

Scuba diving has made me a wimp re any water related movies!

The only thing over my head while diving are bubbles, water, and sky (maybe a boat.)

    Women and Reef Hooks

So, do they hook in and wait for some pelagic to swim by? This assumes you can take your focus from being swept away long enough to look around. Think I'll pass.

    Hi, from Tennessee

Welcome to SB. We can never know you or your son via just posts in a thread. That said, buoyancy and trim are critical, IMO, regardless of your certification level. AOW probably won't buy you anything at this point. Stay with a DM while you gain skill and confidence. Then AOW and a trip to...

Long hose and octo with necklace for rec diving

Agreed. I now use the 5' primary (yellow hose & yellow reg) with a black octo on a necklace. I love it. No issues at all. I've always heard panicked divers will grab your primary rather than give the OOA signal and wait for you to donate your octo, so I may as well assume that is the...

Just finished the worst dive trip ever.

    Weight requirement BP/W vs BCD

I consistently neglect to include my fins with stainless spring straps in my weighting calculation. I know they are negative, after watching one fall overboard two weeks ago. Luckily it was only about 25' to the sandy bottom, where the fin was retrieved. The point is, following Tobin's...

    Weight requirement BP/W vs BCD

Agree. 8# would be a good start. There may be other buoyant items in your current setup that could be simplified and reduce the need for lead.

How to correctly swap regulators when using a bungee necklace.

???? If you remove your primary, simply insert the secondary (necklaced), exhale or press the purge botton, continue to breath. No need to mess with the bungee necklace. Keep it simple. Remember, the purpose of this setup is to allow for your primary to be donated to a diver in OOA...
