    Drysuit Question

If you've never dived with a drysuit before i'd recommend you to take a 'class' in other means do the PADI Drysuit Diver speciality. There is a couple of techniques you'll have to master to manage to dive safe with a drysuit, and it will be more enjoyable for sure. *What to do if you get...

    Just completed my AOW

First of all good thoughts about the AOW and congrats on completing it! As you said taking the AOW course doesnt make you an 'advanced diver' it's just a tool to gain some more experience while supervised by an instructor. My own experience during the AOW was great, did the experience dives...

Lessons learned on first dive vacation

Very, very good post! My first divingvacation was in Egypt and the red sea, and from that I learned that; * You should not dive on locations where you have to limit you'r diving - in other means dont dive on a divesite that is 30 meters deep when you'r OW and have to stay in mid-water...

Question for newly qualified PADI divers

4 times á 2 hours theory (including chapters 1-5 and test) 4 confined sessions (confined 1-5) 2 days of diving 2 dives per day. This was during a period of 6 weeks, 1 theory class and 1 confined session per week. Edit: I think this was great since it gave me plenty of time outside and...

warm and clear- cold and murky

Drysuit is indeed the only way to be comfortable in cold water, sure you can do it in a 7+5 milimeter wetsuit but repetative diving will be mindchallenging and it will challenge your bodyheat for sure...Hypothermia is a fact. I've dived 7+5 mil wetsuit in 9 degrees celsius and 2 dives a day is a...

Lost a weight pouch, Dang It!

I love Zeagle's ripcord-system. I dont think there is any possibility that the ripcord will untie itself without a large amount of force is put in the right direction on the handle.

warm and clear- cold and murky

You answered your question just fine yourself and i'd say getting used to the equipment and doing fin-pivo's and hoovering exercises on every dive. I do it and it sure pays off. Best regards PitchBlack - Who dives in the coldashell and dark waters of Sweden. Edit: On the thick suit and...

I'm feeling a little stupid about AOW versus specialties

There's no laws saying that you need a scubadiving certification at all...Grab some gear, jump into the blue and go down to 60 meters...But your insurance company wont bother paying those medical bills or your funeral costs. Atleast thats how it is in Sweden, I dont know how it is in the US...

I'm feeling a little stupid about AOW versus specialties

As a little note, each dive you do on the Advanced course will count as the first dive on that particular speciality wich you've chosen. In other words, after taking for an example drysuitdiving on your aow course, instead of 3 dives on the specieality course you only need to do 2 to reach up...

    Drysuit 101...

I would also say that the most suitable suit in Florida (for me Florida is really hot all year round) would be a trilam suit.

    Equipment weight?

It really doesnt matter what agency it is, it's still the divecenter/instructors/guides who sets the standards on whats going on on their trips/courses. Why is it so damn common? That on whatever vacationresort you visit, if it's egypt, thailand, malta or whereever you go you will find these...

How long are most OW courses?

My Ow-course took 6 weeks, our schedule was Tuesdays theory class and Thursdays confined water, that took 4 weeks (last theory class lesson 4 and 5 were compressed together, just like confined 4 and 5) Due to bad weather conditions we had to wait one week to start the open water dives and...

Zeagle Ranger LTD vs Dive Rite Transpac

I also own a Ranger, according to the safety instructions the largest tanks it will hold for in it's original state is double steel 19Liters. I think only the double 19's weigh about 80kg's.

    The most durable drysuit

I see nobody mentioned Ursuk? Ursuk has a variety of drysiuts to offer but the most common to recreational/tech divers are the Heavy Light/HL Rescue (Rescue is the red version of the Heavy Light) or the Heavy Light Cordura/RedQ (RedQ is the red version of the Heavy Light Cordura) Heavy Light...

Hello gals and lads of ScubaBoard! I'm a 21 yo PADI AOW certified diver from southern Sweden, the feeling of neutral bouyancy must be the greatest feeling of them all isnt it? Went diving today actually, cocktaildivers beware! We had 1 degree celcius in the water! Any questions? Feel free...
