Witnessed another Diver die this past weekend during my Certification • r/scuba
Crazy since I dive there all the time
It depends on the depth. The Great Lakes will be in the low 40s all year round at depth. A couple of inland lakes I dive by the end of June around 40 feet will get to the high 50's maybe 60. Anything deeper tends to stay in the high 40's low 50's year round but again depends on the lake. Plan...
This thread has been fairly amusing because up here in the Great Lakes the prejudice goes the opposite way - if you are coming up here from the south and have never dove the cold low viz Great Lakes or quarries you're going to be put on a leash/watched closely.
Up here "real divers" are...
Love my AI but I've hit a financial rut and so am looking to downgrade my AI to a non AI. I have a perdix AI with transmitter, only about 30 dives on them. I'd like to trade it for your perdix non AI + $300 to cover the difference in cost (should be a good deal since the difference in cost new...
That's why I was asking if a soft handle is adequate for technical diving/cave diving. Seems like quite a few people use a soft handle. No way it's being removed as fast as a hard goodman. I'm guessing people are keeping it on their hand for most left hand actions.
For your inflation/deflation...
So it sounds like the requirements of a soft handle are some kind of loop to clip it off and it has to be able to be quickly removed and replaced without struggling. I just really like the stability of the soft handle as it is a lot more form fitting and doesn't slide around at all.
I do like...
Any advantage of a hard goodman handle over a soft one for technical diving? The reason I ask is because my hard goodman handle seems to slip frequently through the dive. This is with it adjusted to be as "tight" as the handle will allow and with big thick dry gloves (I probably have very small...
You're using a clean condom every time. Whatever microbes grow in the tubing are not going to crawl up the tube, into the conDom, and down your urethra during a dive. At least not speaking for male p valves. And especially not since you prime them after you put them on.
I'm not saying not to...
This is an interesting question. When someone says they can dive in the cold without getting cold, is that because they are tolerant of colder core temps before having the sensation of cold, or are they actually more efficient at maintaining their core temp and so have a delayed onset of cold...
Just an FYI vinegar is significantly more acidic than urine (pH ~2 vs pH ~6). Probably doesn't matter though it's a tube you are peeing through. Your urine is sterile (or should be). Rinse the tube out however you want. Whichever method anyone uses will be unlikely to significantly shorten the...
I was able to get ahold of customer support.
You need to push the button down extremely hard. Like I had to use my car key to push it in the first time to figure out how much force you need. You'll know when you have enough force because the whole rubber power button will begin to dent in and...
Thinking about how a piston and diaphragm reg works from an engineering standpoint I can't think of why switching them underwater and then purging the hell out of them would be any different.
Thinking about whether this would be a problem or not, thinking about how they work internally it...
I learned doubles without any classes initially.
I will say however that I ended up taking intro to tech down the road after I had been diving doubles for a while. The learning curve of learning to properly dive doubles would have been drastically improved had I just taken intro to tech right...
