Yes, you want your harness/kit to be set so that additions/subtractions from it with stages/reels/etc can be compensated for by posture alone rather than needing trim. It would be nice if everything you add/remove only added/removed from the center of gravity but that just won't be the case. But...
Just trying to echo all the people above me, and add a couple of things.
I struggled with head down trim for a while as well. I wanted to be absolutely perfect - be able to just hold completely still and have literally no movement head/feet/left/right. That led to soooo many dives experimenting...
I have a Thermaxx 3 mil that i've had for 3 year and beat the hell out of and it still looks and fits great. Before I started diving drysuits 90% of the time, I had the Aqualock from Henderson and loved that as well. Henderson suits seem to last and do tend to be easy to take on and off. Just...
this is what i was thinking too...what is coming loose for people? The wing nuts that sit facing your back? I have locked nuts on the opposite side of the back mount but the side facing me is wing nuts. I break gear down and assemble it way too much to need a wrench every time and I've never had...
I have for sale 2 brand new blue steel tank valves, pro valves, din 3442psi with the yoke insert to make them both din or yoke as needed. Standard 3/4". They are sealed in packaging and have never been used.
They are $70 MRSP, will sell for $40 a piece or $70 together. Willing to ship if buyer...
Ohhhh another rare Poseidon diver! Although I can’t see the pictures, see how old they are, or when they were last serviced, I love my xtremes and have never had an issue with them even down at trimix depths in the low 30’s temps.
A lot of people think double tanks are safer, and they are when you have been trained to use them safely and appropriately. However I see too many people throw on double tanks without any training because they want to be “tech” or think they are cool and in those situations they are definitely...
ah the nipple broke off. That makes more sense. In that case, it should be dealt with like a frozen LP inflator where it's frozen to the nipple anyways. Turn off the valve. Should take seconds.
I'm 5'11". I dive deep and cold in the great lakes and a few months ago upgraded from my backmount double 100's to double 120's. Honestly, I noticed very minimal difference in trim between my double 100's and double 120's. The 120's are longer but even though i'm not super tall, they don't...
I'm a little confused about the situation as well and where the gas loss occurred. If the LP hose popped off the wing there shouldn't be continued flow of gas.
Also, although some people have stated in the past they would still dive without an LP hose to their BCD in singles as they are...
Being a frequent diver in the great lakes, I will echo what others have said earlier on in this threat that charters here are different than resort charters. They tend to be more "you're on your own" once you are out there. Penetration, deco, solo, etc. It's up to you to know what your...
If the shop you took them to disassembled them, and then reassembled them incorrectly, take them back and make them fix it. Don't waste an air fill. They should correct the problem they caused and refill your tanks.
Think this was missed didn't see this addressed in the replies. You had it right the first time. The computer was telling you how long you have to spend at your deco stop.
Run it through subsurface or equivalent calculator. If you are using no more/planning for no more than 2/3 of gas for your dive and saving an entire third for contingency, with almost any deco dive sub 150ft that 1/3rd should be enough to get you out of the water if you lost your entire O2 bottle.
Put together a little video of a local diving place here in south Michigan. Lots to see here.
