I can see the point of split fins not having the thrust of paddle fins (like riding a 10 speed in 1st gear, peddle like crazy go nowhere) but if the fins are in good condition then it is up to the diver to decide what gear is desired. I have some of those stiff paddle fins and don't like them...

I spent too much at the LDS for fins it turns out I'm not really happy with. They do however fit properly. Had I gone out and got fins online I could have saved 20%-30% but they would not have fit as the size I would have gotten was a loose fit in the LDS. I have a mask from the LDS but I don't...

OK I have revised my gear to include a pair of spandex shorts for changing in public. I watched a guy the other day trying way too hard to don his suit using a towel for legal protection. The spandex may take a lil getting used to tho.

This is a major reason I cannot buy online. If I ordered MY size from Their chart I would explode if they failed to correct THEIR mistake. You have provided me a "black and white" reason to NEVER buy from DS!

I too am hoping to get certified soon and bought one of those prepackage mask/snorkel sets from the LDS. He had the same mask and same snorkel hanging on the wall so I fitted them both and was happy. I tried on boots and when I found some that fit I tried fins and bought those. Now I'm wanting...
