    Blue Heron Bridge Trolls III

During the pandemic, pretty much the only diving I did was a few short trips down to the bridge. I'm getting ready to leave for Indonesia (1st time!) and I wanted to finally finish editing those photos. These are from 2020 - 2023, maybe 10 dives total. Highlights are seashorses, frogfish, mantis...

    lavacore zip full suit

@razorseal - I just ordered 2 lavacores from Diveinn and it didn't seem like a scan. No unexpected charges. Shipping was longer than a US-based operation, but I got a tracking number and was able to keep tabs on the shipment. I love lavacores, but haven't tried the full body one. Only negative...

Fish ID book for Red Sea

This one has served me pretty well. It's a tad too broad, but hits all the major categories.

Yes, perhaps not quite a 90° angle, but pretty close.

Trip Report Erojacks Artificial Reef at Dania Beach/ Mizell-Johnson State Park

Great report. I have had a lot of fun diving the erojacks over the years. This might help orient some people who have never visited the area before. If you look closely, you can see the erojacks on Google Maps (Dana Erojack Artificial Reef · 3V7R+77, Hollywood, FL 33004, Vereinigte Staaten) .

    To camera or not?

All valid viewpoints from where I'm sitting. I'm at the point now where I can't dive without a camera. Focusing on photography has improved my diving by leaps and bounds. Buoyancy, dive planning, air consumption - if you don't have those dialed in, you can't get great photos. As others have...

Info Why are tables not taught in OW classes anymore?

What's shocking to me, having learned on tables and then transitioned to computers and then led trips with fairly well-equipped groups of divers, is how many people really have no idea how to use their dive computer. Especially among vacation divers who dive infrequently, there's a sense that...

Have SB divers lost interest in GC?

I took a group of 25 to Cobalt Coast (CC) April 2-9, 2022. This was a trip originally scheduled for April, 2020. We all know how that went. I rebooked the trip 4 different times before I finally got the group there. CC said we were the first large group to come in since the reopening. We still...

    New Divemaster air consumption

I'm 6'5" and well north of 250. I'm also a DM and photographer. If you want to be a DM, be a DM. I started the DM with maybe 150 dives, and I felt like that was enough experience to begin. I did a lot of quarry work, pool work, and shadowing instructors before I did things on my own. When you're...

    Diving off Catalina in June

I found that nudi at Casino Point in some slightly deeper water near the glass bottom boat wreck. I saw several, but they were all the same Blue Dorid species. Regulars have seen many other species in the dive park. Just the luck of the draw.

    Diving off Catalina in June

I've only been once, but I loved it. I enjoyed both the shore diving ad the boat diving. I wrote a short trip report here. There are no prohibitions on cameras and PADI doesn't own or run Casino Point dive park or enforce any rules there. CDS might have some rule about not having a camera during...

    Good Morning (from) Baltimore

There's only one dive shop that offers it - Atlantic Edge. It's pricey, but like I said a lot of people come out of that dive with huge smiles on their faces. Here's the info: Dive in the National Aquarium in Baltimore The guest diver program just opened last week after being closed for the...

    Good Morning (from) Baltimore

Welcome! Fellow Charm City diver here. While our local diving isn't for everyone, it's only a 2-hr direct flight to West Palm Beach! Let me know if you have any questions about diving the aquarium. I've DM'd that dive over 100 times. While it might not be for everyone, some people absolutely...

Pregnant and my husband - Where to dive and sleep?

Have you considered Hawaii? Too long a flight? I love the Singer Island area and I've spent a lot of time there, but with 9 days you can get a solid week in Hawaii, stay in the US, and have breathtakingly beautiful area to explore. It's not cheap, but it's worth it.

Back to Sugar Cottage, South Kona

A little over two years ago, I was lucky enough to spend some time at Sugar Cottage in South Kona. I'm not going to review the Sugar Cottage experience again. You can read my initial review here: Sugar Cottage - South Kona Trip Report. Everything was pretty much the same - just as delightful and...

Cayman possible border reopening without quarantine by April or May!

For anyone who has been to CI since they entered Phase 5 of reopening, is any time the day before arrival OK to get the AZOVA or PCR test? The official wording is a little confusing: All inbound travellers age 5 and older must take a certified rapid test or a pre-arrival polymerase chain...

    Remove O-Rings for Storage??

I remove all o-rings from photo gear (housings, ports, lights, strobes), grease them with the manufacturer's grease, and then store them in sealed ziplocs. Necessary? Maybe not, but it doesn't take much time and the photo gear is expensive.
