    Captain Don's for single diver

You will have plenty of chances to make friends on Don's awesome boats. Dive masters were great in and out of the water. Very easy to socialize at the restaurant either at breakfast or in the evenings and also at the bar. Security is present at the entrance and the resort always felt very safe...

    Trip Report Paradise Taveuni-March/April 2024

Just back from Volivoli as well (did Beqa too) and looking forward to hearing your thoughts! Sat next to someone on the way home from Nadi to LAX that LOVES Taveuni Dive Resort and I was considering that for our next trip. Loved Voli, but was a bit expensive and those boat rides were LOOOONNG...

    Must Do Dives in Cozumel

For me (who loves a swimthrough) anything with the name Palancar (gardens, caves, horseshoe, bricks) are great. Love Columbia deep but it's a longer boat ride. Punta Sur Cathedral is amazing but deep at I think 120' +/- Favorite 2nd dives are Yucab, Tormentos, and the long swimthrough at...

    Kinta

Went there in October and it was VERY MEH. The view and the garlic UFO bread makes up for it (almost).

    Best tacos in Cozumel?

    Yes Diaz has beer.

    Best tacos in Cozumel?

Sadly the best taco places aren't always open during the day. Tacos tends to be a more evening/late night activity.. I humbly suggest ceviche by day (El Pezcazon or El Sazon de Camaron) and tacos by nite (Tacos Diaz or El Pique).

Trip Report Seagrape Plantation Resort, Roatan - Trip Report May 2024

Just got back from diving Fiji. After diving the caribbean a lot my buddy and I were looking for the 'next level' beyond Coz and Bonaire. A direct 11 hour flight from LAX plus 4 hour cab ride and 1 hour boat ride will get you to some very healthy reefs out in the Fijian islands especially the...

    Fiji final decisions

I loved both places. Beqa was more remote and was a long way to get to after the LAX to NAD plane ride. Once we arrived it was really paradise. Food was great, staff amazing and our deluxe oceanfront burre was super nice with great finishings. Water pressure was low in the shower but for an...

Trip Report April 4-19 2024 Fiji

Just back from two incredible weeks at Beqa Lagoon Resort and Volivoli Beach Resort. We took the non stop from LAX to Nadi and then the almost 4 hour bus ride plus 45 minute boat to Beqa and arrived to a beach front serenade by the staff. We were there primarily for the shark dive but had a...

    Norte Predictions

Sadly no, you are not. From what I can see on Windguru, looks like a very light but def bad direction wind coming in for the day. Good news is it looks like it goes away until the following Thursday as well.

Question How does Cozumel compare to other dive destinations?

Agree that the Tulum post does NOT reflect the diving or attitudes we have encountered in Coz. I've never been limited to a 45 minute diver EVER. Since the op wants assurances that the diving is OUTSTANDING I was holding back. I've not had good luck telling people something is amazing since...

Question How does Cozumel compare to other dive destinations?

We love Coz for all the reasons stated above. I love drift diving, the visibility, the topography and the nice cross section of Caribbean marine life (although fish density is low compared to say Bonaire). Turtles, rays, nurse shark and a great selection of reef critters is almost always...

    Trip planning advice

I would personally also look into options that are a little further to the south and closer to the dive sites. Boats are not my favorite thing overall so having hour plus commutes to the dive area would make me hesitate. For what it's worth, I understand the desire to save money(or perhaps you...

    Blue Angel dive op?

Been staying there at least once a year since 2013 and I was a client of Pam's at the BA dive shop back in the late 80's when I worked on the cruise ships as a band leader. We love the convenience of being able to roll out of bed and onto the boat after breakfast and although we have looked...

What's going on with the weather?

Observing WindGuru my prediction would be no diving until Thursday this week and then out of the pool for Sunday-Thursday next week too. It's been crazy this year.

Cost of dives in Fiji and advice – is it really worth it?

We are going that same trip in April! One week at each Beqa and Volivoli. I got individual prices on food and diving by reaching out to the resorts. They sent detailed price sheets for ala carte services but both resorts are offering 'all inclusive' with diving food and room for one price. We...

    Cozumel 2H23 Photos (Mostly macro)

Incredible! Beautiful pics of so much stuff that the average diver just swims right over.

Trip Report French Polynesia - the Tuamotu`s (Tikehau, Rangiroa, Fakarava)

Really nice videos and information. Makes this another set of stops on the ole scuba bucket list.

    Diving during Carnival

We were there the week before and didn't have anything affected. Town was nuts and a few places that are normally open on Sunday were closed for the crowing of the king and queen but otherwise business as usual. We found it more crowded than other times of year and the rates for the hotels...

    Fiji final decisions

Booked Beqa for 6 nights and Volivoli for 7 nights deciding to save island hopping air trips to Tavuni for next visit.
