    Layered wetsuits for 13°C/55°F waters

well, core/chest will be at 6mm minimum (3mm and 3mm), but more likely 8mm (5+3mm). Head is 7mm as stated before. I do have some thinner gloves if I don't like the 5mm though.

    Layered wetsuits for 13°C/55°F waters

ya, that's at the colder end, the water should be 57-59°F by the time of dive in two weeks, right now it's 57°F (just checked). I did get a 7mm hood and 5mm gloves (feet were already 3mm+3mm). I'll still rent the wetsuit, mainly to see what my tolerances are exactly before ordering anything...

    Layered wetsuits for 13°C/55°F waters

If they have it available I'll rent it, shops around here have 5mm mostly.

    Layered wetsuits for 13°C/55°F waters

I guess for comparison I did 2 30min dives in the 3mm with no accessories (hood/gloves/socks) at 70°F just 10 feet of depth though. Was chilly at the end but not as bad (wife rented a 5mm)

    Layered wetsuits for 13°C/55°F waters

Ya. I'll rent a 5mm full suit at the least and possibly/probably wear the 3mm shorty under or over it (depending on fit) along with the gloves/socks/hood and see how that goes. Part of the reason for this is to figure out tolerances and the like. There will be a bunch of divers on location...

    Layered wetsuits for 13°C/55°F waters

ya, I'll edit the top post to be more clear, but surface conditions are two weeks out, but average seems to be 20°C/70°F at the surface, and sunny with a mild breeze.

    Layered wetsuits for 13°C/55°F waters

I definitely have that (northerner living in texas and all that). I'll be sure to update this with how the experiment goes (even if it's just a single dive, or even less, knowledge is good to have).

    Layered wetsuits for 13°C/55°F waters

I'll likely be 60 feet at the max, probably close to 40 feet max this time of year. Temperature should remain fairly constant as the lake is used as a reservoir. https://diveworldscuba.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/JoesMap-1.jpg is the dive map. Air temp I expect to be 60-80°F (still have...

    Layered wetsuits for 13°C/55°F waters

Ya, sounds like I'll be renting a thicker wetsuit, I tend to run warm, but not too much natural insulation. Can't beat physics (Carnot says hi).

    Layered wetsuits for 13°C/55°F waters

I generally am fine with a full 3mm suit without hood, gloves or socks at 22°C/70°F My general question is if you'd think that adding a 3mm hood and socks, basic gloves (1.5mm or so) along with a 3mm shorty over-top the 3mm suit would keep me warm enough for 13°C/55°F water. Surface conditions...

    AquaLung i300c review???

I use the Android DiveMate app and sync from the watch to my phone. From there I can export in the subsurface xml format to google drive and from google drive import on my laptop (subsurface merges previous dives just fine so far). Was never able to get the subsurface android app to work very...

    AquaLung i300c review???

I have the wristmount version of this. Using DiveMate instead of DiverLog+ to sync. Can back up to 'cloud' (gdrive, dropbox, etc) In the subsurface format (what I use for archival / syncing). The app itself (or the watch) crashes as it syncs, so that's fun, but it eventually works. As far as...

Braided low pressure and high pressure regulator hoses

I do the same thing, braided for everything but the long hose. I do use a 70° adapter off of my primary though, just for ergonomics (and non-cave I prefer a 5' "long" hose).

    What Torch to buy

I have the push button CX1, used it for day time dives looking at things under overhangs and swimthroughs. Got it to use as a backup in case I ever do more night or (any) cave dives due to it's bigger battery (nice for emergencies as well). Only thing to be aware of for it is to make sure to...

    Fiji

Ya, it was nice and laid back, I was the only person for a couple of the trips. He helped the wife with some anxiety and never pushed us unless we wanted to be pushed. Would definitely dive again with him.

    Dive computer simulator

If you are looking at using it for dive planning, subsurface has a planing mode that's pretty good (and complete)

    Dive Rite CX1

I have the light, not much experience with other lights though. The reason I bought it was as a 'primary' light for basic OW dives. It could move to be a backup if I later want to do too much penetration or wreck diving.

    Fiji

I was just in Vanua Levu (during the cyclone) dove from a shore based operation KoroSun Dive (next to the Savasi Island stuff, not the KoroSun resort). We dove out to the west a little, saw a bunch of sharks (silvertip, grey reef and a school scalloped hammerhead) and some good reefs. Dream...
