    Jupiter Inlet in February

Good plan - its not a great place to dive anyway - and lots of reasons not to dive there. OTOH, offshore Jupiter is a superb place to dive!

    Back-up destination for Jupiter?

Guess I took too long to respond - you posted while I was writing - well, at least great minds think alike!

    Back-up destination for Jupiter?

Actually, there is a great option - The Blue Heron Bridge @ Phil Foster Park located in Riveria Beach, just south of Jupiter - there is a looooong thread in this forum with lots of great info, posts, pix, tide info, etc (The continuing saga of the Blue Heron Bridge its called). Its a shallow...

    Blue Heron Bridge Questions

I think you need a special permit to be in the park, to dive the bridge, after sunset. I know special permits have been obtained to permit night diving - this is from the parks website: "Phil Foster Park is open for public use from sunrise to sunset with the exception of the boat ramps that...

What is diving southeastern Florida like?

MSP, next trip dive Boynton, and Jupiter - great locations; especially Jupiter for big marine life - Boynton has (IMO) the best reefs in FL - overall.....I'd give the best site award to Jupiter.

What is diving southeastern Florida like?

The Red Sea its not but its still very good! The New Jersey wreck divers, the California divers MAYBE to the contrary, but FL offers the best in diving in the (continental) USA. IMO!

What is diving southeastern Florida like?

Pete, Miami has some great diving - especially wrecks - also one of the best, most professional operators, RJ Diving, right out of Miami Beach Marina. (One of the best sites in S. FL, IMO too - called "The Cascades" its a reef system that if you do it right and have a little luck, you finish...

Yup to all of the above!

What is diving southeastern Florida like?

Its great - I think Boynton has the best reefs in FL - but my favorite place to dive is Jupiter. Overall my favorite place is Palm Beach county. Miami is also good; excellent for wrecks.

    Travelling to Naples

There is diving in Naples, but this time of year it will be difficult (admittedly, I only did 6 dives there, and it was during the summer - the Gulf is too cold during the winter) - For many reasons, especially during winter, its difficult to get out diving - agree w/ the suggestions about...

In Miami. Need fish market recommendations and shore diving sites.

Garcia's - (and I'm a 31 year Miami resident) has their own fleet - it does not get fresher; plus you are on the Miami River, which is a neat place to watch the boats (some ships too) go by. If they question Garcias, you need to take them for sushi - its where we take visitors; we have never...

    Wetsuit for Jupiter waters?

Nothing beats local knowledge - from an e mail sent today from my friend Ham Mason, an instructor at Jupiter Dive Center: "Water temperature at the bridge today 68! Air temperature in a stiff north wind 48! In my drysuit I was very comfortable, but my student and a friend who joined us were...

Diver from Cali looking for live aboard recommendations?

LOL - thought about it after I posted - you are correct, and I stand corrected! (What I should have posted was an overnight/short trip is more common in CA vs FL - or maybe not posted what I was not 100% sure about - I'm a fairly experienced diver, and 31 year resident of FL - I honestly did...

Diver from Cali looking for live aboard recommendations?

Fl is not famous for liveaboards - unlike California, where 3 - 5 day trips are somewhat common, that really is not the case here (likely because we have so much great diving you don't need a liveaboard to reach - LOL - calm down, all the sensitive Californians - its a joke -but not really : )...

Staying near Pennekamp - Diving with Conch Republic?

You should be OK - some of your trip is 4 lane (rare in the Keys) but keep in mind 2 lane or four, there is only one road in and one out - you don't have a "route B" so if there is an accident, or some kind of traffic tie up, it can be the longest eleven miles ever. But I would not sweat it...

Dive Shops in South East Florida

Catlin, instead of the on line version of "Mother may I", and making us guess, how about telling us why you are asking - I suspect it has nothing to do with personal needs for purchasing dive gear in S. FL. You ask a very broad question - and if you want to know the best shops b/c you want...

Key Largo area, January and Drysuit

All depends - you seldom see dry suits in the Keys (but that may be b/c many of the divers are new, and tend to come from cold areas, so temps in the low 70's - typical for the winter - feel warm). This has been a crazy year - we have had very cold land temps (and its not offically winter!)...
