Key Largo Reef - Is It In Good Shape?

Thank you all! What you're saying reflects our experience as well. Maybe the person I was talking to had a bad experience and generalized it to the entire reef system. Looking forward to it. Hope to get some good pics to post here. :)

Key Largo Reef - Is It In Good Shape?

We have a trip scheduled to Key Largo in two weeks. We have been there several times and LOVE diving the Keys. I mentioned our upcoming trip to a fellow diver and she said something about the reef being bleached out. It's been a few years since we were down there and I'm wondering if anything...

    Henderson Shorty Vs Running Tights

I have had several skin cancers removed and need to cover up as much as possible. I'm considering wearing lycra leggings and a long sleeved rash guard when I do the Juliet this summer. You spend a lot of time hanging around topside in the sun and need something that breathes but will offer some...

What can your LDS do to bring in more women divers?

There are some wetsuits made by Henderson that have a yellow stripe on either side of the torso. I'd like to see that stripe go down the leg (where it doesn't get covered up by a BC). I'm not crazy about the skins that look like pajamas in crazy patterns - just not my style. (And maybe a stripe...

What can your LDS do to bring in more women divers?

The most important feature to me is good customer service. If I wasn't a diver I can't imagine anything that would draw me into a dive shop, but once I'm in there I appreciate a prompt greeting, full attention (not answering calls while in the middle of a conversation if possible - or telling...

How soon to take AOW after OW?

There really is a huge variance of opinion on this - as always for any discussion here! I would go with your comfort level.

    zena fit help

It turns out that what I was referring to as a chest strap is what actually sits at my natural waist. I don't know if other people wear it the same way as I do, but I cinch the top horizontal strap at my waist - keeping the shoulder straps loose - and then cinch the bottom horizontal strap at...

Aqua Lung Pearl BCD - thoughts/reviews?

So Jim, are you saying that if I put some trim weights in the back, no the tank, that it will help me stay in a more heads up position at surface - without causing me to also go 'heads up' in the water? I love the buoyancy control I have in the water with my Zena - and the fact that it feels...

Aqua Lung Pearl BCD - thoughts/reviews?

I have the Pearl and I really liked it when I first started diving. Because it's a jacket style it will keep her head up and out of the water when at the surface. The back-inflate versions tend to push me face down in the water. That said, I now dive a Zeagle Zena - which is more of a...

    Swimsuit Coverups Between Dives

Thank you WrmBluH2O - I had found some of those - and am finding more as I discover new ways to search for what I need. I found a hooded wrap cardigan that was thigh length and NOT UGLY! Kevrumbo, I need something that will shade my face, neck, shoulders and arms. Also will need some leggings...

    Swimsuit Coverups Between Dives

Hi Everyone! I have had several skin cancers removed (3 Mohs procedures) so I have to be super careful when in the sun. I use a ton of reef-friendly sunscreen and look like Casper the Friendly Ghost's friend Wendy - but I'm looking for something to wear when I'm on a boat and don't want to...

Female looking for Female Roommate for Anse Chastanet St Lucia February 13-20, 2016

Lana, I hope you found someone. We went to AC in July of 2014 - it was wonderful, but really, really hot. I'd love to hear how the weather is in February. I'd consider going back if the evenings cool off enough to get a good night's sleep. Beautiful property and great diving. Have fun!

Looking for dive destination, to let my spouse relax and enjoy diving!

I recommend anyplace that has a dive guide in the water with you at all times - with the exception of Cozumel (because it's drift dives). It's nice to not have to navigate and worry that you've lost the boat. :D

Four common causes of accidents for less experienced divers

That's the one we were guilty of. Generally speaking, my husband checks and double checks everything - and has spares of everything. The one time he didn't check his deflator was the time it didn't work AND he hadn't brought an extra BCD. Lesson learned. I don't think this was a newbie mistake...

Broken air inflator at the beginning of dive

Oops! Ok Mr Smarty-pants! You're right. Clearly, I got the message he meant to send, and I honestly did know this one!:D ---------- Post added September 27th, 2015 at 08:34 PM ---------- Thank you! I went back to #35 and followed the link. Cool gadget and definitely worth adding to our...

What's in your scuba "go bag"?

Some of these I've never heard of! Solid shampoo and conditioner sounds great - is there a brand you recommend I google? Never heard of electrolyte sachets either. Thanks!

What's in your scuba "go bag"?

There is always something (or somethings) that I forget on a dive trip. It's different each time. Sometimes I'll skip bringing crème rinse because 'all hotels have crème rinse, right?" (scuba club Cozumel had a shampoo/crème rinse combo that was worthless - but I had brought my own, thank...

Waterproof blush & tinted lip balm

This last trip I picked up something called Kiss Me Twice, Lip & Cheek Chubby (it also says "Flower" on the side). It looks like a thick lipstick. Obviously, you can use it on your cheeks and lips - though I found it a little cakey on my lips. Because it's a cream it doesn't easily come off. I...

    zena fit help

I've had my Zena for a few years, and I think I finally got it really figured out (for me). I 'customize' it after I'm in the water. I go either horizontal or head-down and loosen up the shoulder straps to give me room to wiggle it around. Then I tighten the chest straps just below my breasts...

Broken air inflator at the beginning of dive

I don't think he found out what caused the problem with this inflator. We left it with the shop, took a rental for the second dive and then picked up his BC in the morning. Pretty much the same with the first BC that crashed. He is looking into taking a course (if they offer something like that)...
