Y’all be repeating the same mantras about age old techniques in diving but why not give it some thought as to the benefits of a RH reardump as an alternative?
Now on your LHside you can have all your stages and/or bailouts, you can have your CCR controller on your left arm if desired (if you...
You have found the main reason why it should be better to have a right hand pull-dump on your wing.
I’ve been saying for years it is a stupid idea to have the rear dump on the left.
Mares had the right idea when they designed their wings with a swappable dump valve so you could choose.
It...
If they are anything like iPhones or Fitbits then I would also be aware of a potential issue of Trimix and Drysuit diving.
I’ve killed a few fitbits and iPhones by having them in my drysuit during a dive.
Only when using trimix to fill the drysuit instead of a suit inflation bottle...
once you go into deco then GTR isnt displayed anyway so it makes no difference.
If you arent going into deco then presumably its just a really long, really shallow dive, in which case just surface when you get to your minimums.
I showed this video to my dad and he said he used to do this sort of thing all the time back in the 80’s experiementing in his BSAC club.
he seemed to get all nostalgic watching it.♀️
The Shearwater doesn’t count the safety stop time as part of the TTS (at least not in OCtec mode)
Safety Stops are optional
Ceiling stops are mandatory
Try the OCtec mode as others suggested.
It’s a lot clearer when you’ve completed mandatory stops and are now ‘deco clear’ and it will start...
I learned a valuable life lesson a few years ago…
I was travelling up an escalator about to cross a road in Beijing, right near the top I looked to my right and saw i was within arms reach of an electricity pole, it was the top and it was like a birds nest of angry sounding buzzing crackling...
i have both of these suits, and i also have their thinner flex80 too.
I'm a UK cold water diver 99% of the time. I spend most of my time in a Santi drysuit too.
The biggest things to note between the two you mentioned...
The BZ400 traps a lot more air, therefore getting rid of it takes longer...
I always carry my computers, cameras and anything ‘precious’.
when I first started diving this included carrying my regs too but as the years have gone by I’ve been less bothered about these.
if in doubt buy yourself a pelicase or a hard shell suitcase for your bits.
The legend feels like it breathes better the deeper you go.
you will never feel ‘short’ of breath with this regulator.
not tried the cheaper one though.
Can you demo both? Put one as your octo and the other as primary and go and check them out in person
I would never soak my regs like that.
I don’t have dust caps on my 1st stages but even if I did I still wouldn’t.
the thought of water travelling up from the 2nd stage up the hoses and into the 1st stage makes me cringe.
no thanks. I’ll just spray down with a hose and give it a quick swish in...
The tradeup deal isn’t worth it
I got caught out with this too.
I thought I’d get the tradeup discount as well as the new Hero9 + subscription deal price.... you don’t!
but what they do do is start taking the payment for the subscription right away, even if you never send your camera in or...
Hello all,
Before i go into the sales pitch, I thought i would just mention that i don't do this sort of thing normally.
Normally i work in the music industry but since COVID19 has temporarily ruined my job, and ultimately my livelihood, I thought i'd do something else to bring some pennies in...
Surely it already depends on your existing tolerance with the cold?
I’ve got a lot of Santi kit and I’ll regularly dive wearing half the thermal protection than that of my fellow team and I normally can go longer.
My personal thresholds for cold water if I knew I was doing a 60min+ dive:
Down...
