    Grand Sea Serpent

Most dives were done from Zodiacs but there were some dives which were done from GGS, it depends on the route and the dive site. I am not saying it is too high but it I know some people have reported that it is a bit tricky, however the crew were very good and have steading hands when...

    Grand Sea Serpent

I haven't been on her since 2005, so can't say what it is like now, but we had a great trip with some good diving. Dive deck is quite high from the water which was a bit of a negative for me.

    Snorkelling packages

I don't know where you live or who your LDS is, but the one I use is near Manchester Divelife and they sell quite a few snorkeling packages as well as the items sold individually. The most important item is the mask, because a poor fitting mask which leaks will just make for an irritating...

What insurance pays for Search and rescue?

If young people are irresponsible enough to light fires which cause the Fire Brigade to drop what they are doing, risk their lives and in some circumstances now come under a barrage of missiles from these idiots then I think it only right that if the culprits are caught and identified then they...

DIR backup reg necklace - Austin area question

Or I could decide not to dive with someone who might be daft enough not to monitor their gas which could lead to them panicing in the first place ;) Most panicing divers will instinctively go for the reg which they know to be working which is the one I am breathing from, therefore they can...

Red Sea: where to stay and who to dive with?

If you have a non diver on the trip, the last place I would be is Hurghada it is dreadful if you go out of the hotel. If the non diver would like to go shopping then I would recommend Sharm. I only do liveaboards so doesn't really matter where I start the trip from but if you are land based...

Is there a dive club specifically for liveaboards?

Yep it's called the internet ;) I only dive now with people I have met through another internet diving forum. 6 of us have just been on a Redsea liveaboard but you can go on a liveaboard as a single diver and not worry about not making friends. The boat we were on was for 24 there were a...

dSMB with Co2 cartridges inflate method

Venus I have only ever seen these used as an emergency delayed which is why most are yellow. When you say carry around do you mean on holidays ? Can you take CO2 cartridges on a plane ? You already have a selection including the Halcyon oral / dry suit inflate why bother with something...

Fin keepers to attach to BC?

Have to agree, why would you bother and they must surely just bang around while you walk. What is wrong with just carrying them. Good job I opened the link I couldn't think how "fin keepers" (the ones you put on your feet) could be attached to your BC :D

    Bad knee and fins

I had a double knee replacement about 14 weeks ago and although my first dive back about 3 weeks ago wasn't very comfortable last weekend I did two dives over the 2 days and it was very much better, I use Scubapro Jets and use the frog kick though so there isn't much pressure on the knees.

Difference between tec and rec fundies cards?

No you don't have to retake the class, upgrading from Rec to Tech Fundies pass if you had already taken the course with the required kit requirments just involves a check dive with your instructor to ensure you have met the required bar.
