Unknown Tourist dead, Dive Master ill - Ambergris Caye, Belize

Yah, well...have you ever brought up a diver in distress? (Not casting aspersions--perhaps you have done it more than I.) There are a million things going through your mind as you try to balance risk/benefit and keep razor-sharp attention on the situation--risk balancing for yourself, and the...

Rescue Diver? They should just give her the card. Awesome job under severe pressure.

Permanent solution to fogging on the Scuba Masks involving Nanotechnology

When I was younger, my saliva worked fine. Then it didn't. These days I use dollar store baby shampoo. One bottle lasts several seasons. It's in the milk crate with my masks, reels, lights, lift bags, etc. so there is no danger of it being left behind.

Question Droplets behind glass of SPG - where to go from here

DRIS or NESS will have something good, and reasonable, and they both ship promptly.

    My back surgery...

A possible sign of diabetes. Get assessed for it, if you haven't. The neuropathy can be nonreversible.

    My back surgery...

In our area there is a nonprofit that has a lending library of things like this, at no charge. Maybe there is something like that near you. If Google doesn't find one, call a couple of nonprofits (Habitat for Humanity, YMCA, etc.) and ask to speak with the operations manager or the executive...

Where did you solo dive today?

In my basement, where I set off a brace or two of insecticides. With a mask, pony bottle, and reg I could enter the space safely to open doors and windows to ventilate it afterward. Not technically a dive, but below ground level! ;-)

Happy you are home so soon. The process of healing can be a bit uneven. It should get a bit easier and less painful day by day. You've come pretty far in a short time. Take your time.

    My back surgery...

There's a Dam-Fino Construction company near here. For real. Honest! I always want to add an "I" to the name.

    My back surgery...

They are. There are "regular nurses" (not running them down at all; wife, mom, and several cousins are nurses), and then there are ER, ICU, and OR nurses. The latter are a different breed. It's not that the others couldn't do it, but that they *like* those specialties. Why was I not a nurse...

Permanent solution to fogging on the Scuba Masks involving Nanotechnology

This has a lot more words than it needs, and appears to have been written by a non-diver. Every diver would of course love to have a mask that never fogs. Everyone on this board also "understands the fogging issue." But frankly, nobody cares what the solution is. Nanotechnology, chemistry...

Question Should OC and CC divers respect the same limits for breathing gas densities at depth?

Perhaps relevant. (It was good but I don't plan to watch it again to see whether he differentiated between OC and RB.)

Question Should OC and CC divers respect the same limits for breathing gas densities at depth?

@Dr Simon Mitchell ... I thought you and I corresponded about this some time ago, but (a) I can't find the note and (b) the answer might have changed since then.

What to look for in used regulators?

Nearly anything breathes well shallow. High-performance regs breathe well deep. Even on Trimix, the density is a factor. The good news is if you go inexpensive now, you'll already own your first deco reg when the time comes to upgrade.

    My back surgery...

As a close-up witness to the post-op consequences of extensive back surgery, I can tell you this: If you are able to think and type, you are doing very, very well. You're even coherent! I'll be blunt. The next few days are gonna suck. You might not even remember them later, which is a good...

Question Dedicated reg set for doubles?

I have a dedicated set for doubles and a dedicated recreational reg. However, some of my deco/stage regs are the same as my back gas regs (three, I think, at last count). If I have a problem at a dive site I can plug and play to fix the problem because they are set up identically and then...
