    Vero Beach Diving

I'd head south of Vero for Jupiter(boats) and BHB in Riviera at Phil Foster Park. About 90 minutes, but worth it if you've got the tide. Check out Force-E. If you don't want to go that far South, there is Pepper Park in Ft. Pierce. But no comparison IMO.

    Gas Pressure Indication Redundancy

I can certainly appreciate Steve's confusion. God knows I'm getting confused. In the op, Jar is discussing the option of using an SPG to back up a wireless AI transmitter/computer so as not being required to cut the dive/dives short. From there the early responses were in the event of...

    Blue Heron Bridge Trolls

You might get a kick out of this Bob. Maybe you've seen it. couple years ago, I was googling Frank and found this story written by Dan Volker. The South Florida Dive Journal I stole part of it for my sig, but never made the connection until Dan PM'd me and complimented me on the sig, lol...

How do you like this setup? (Single Tank-Warm water)

For the long hose, I've used a 7 ft, a 5 ft and a 40 inch routed directly under my arm. I'm now using a 66 inch (5 ft-6in). No can or knife or tucking. Very easy to manage and I keep it away from my necklaced reg easier than I could with a 5 ft. If wearing a 7, the hose comes from your right...

How do you like this setup? (Single Tank-Warm water)

Ah true. I've had 4 wings in the 30 range, and 1 at 18. Now I have an oxy mv5 in 30 and one in 18. 18 is my summer rig. Given that op is in DC, 30 would seem more appropriate for a first and all around wing. The mv 30 will not trap gas. One of my buddies dives a 40 mv here in the summer. no worries.

How do you like this setup? (Single Tank-Warm water)

I would skip the 7 ft miflex hose. Not needed. Miflex is good for making small tight bends like for the inflator hose or necklace. People tell me using miflex on the long hose is annoying in that it irritates the back of the neck if used without a hood. Also hear they are floaty. In any case...

Need help with Regulator choice ???

Does the 600 now have a metal barrel? Good move on Scubapro's part. I have 2 mk 25's. The older one is paired with a ten or twelve year old s600. The latter one, I paired with a g250 v, only because I wanted the metal barrel. No cold water diving me, but I it helps with dry mouth.

    Blue Heron Bridge Trolls

I'd be surprised FWC has not been contacted. Remember the flounder. It bugs me too that the spearing is occurring in a confined area packed with swimmers, divers and snorkelers. At least you got a picture of face. He will be spotted and recognized.

    Gas Pressure Indication Redundancy

Some of these posts really crack me up. Like an spg hose or transmitter is clutter. My first dives were made with j-valves and first and second stage reg. Had a plastic backpack, watch on left wrist and capillary depth gauge on the right. The first piece of modern gear I purchased was a...

    Gas Pressure Indication Redundancy

Computers fail. I've had 3 failures in about 12 years. Only one time was my diving affected. After the first failure I picked up a citizens aqualand watch I used as a backup depth gauge. the last 2 failures I continued the trips with tables. Anyway, back to the op. I presently dive with a...

Shallow Diving & Snorkeling in Key Largo

You'll find plenty of ops that offer snorkel tours in Pennekamp park. Highly recommend it. Last time I did it was with a non diving girlfriend. I was part of a scuba group on the same boat. I don't know if they still run scuba/ snorkel trips, but I'd sure look into it. Maybe google. If you...

    Jacket vs Back Flotation

You should consider a BPW. You'll carry less ballast because of the plate, and by their nature they have zero inherent buoyancy. You'll trim out better and they are more streamlined than conventional BCD's.

    Islamorada reef 6-4-12(pictures)

Funny. We never really got the cold water this past winter ( no lemon season to speak of in Jupiter ), but it sure seems slow getting to bearable temperatures. May/June is such a tough time to judge. I was going through my logs and pics and over the years they range from shorties and skins to...
