Avelo--I guess there's no need for me to recommend fundies anymore....

Definitely agree with the lack of tank maintenance. I carry O-rings for the tank valve because most of the dive ops don't and don't check before loading the boat.

Any chance to see a Peregrine Ai?

If you're doing this as a precursor to making deeper technical dives using trimix than you're better off going with the Perdix or Teric, both of which can accommodate AI. The Peregrine is Shearwater's "low end" computer for recreational diving. I used a Petrel for a few years because...

    Question Advice for ankle sprain

It's an ankle. If you can stand the pain go diving, if not don't.

    Advice on Philippines Itinerary

Yes, it's definitely the timing in the Philippines that can cause problems...the roads can be narrow and windy but also clogged with traffic. It's something that I've not encountered in other countries....you get either traffic or windy/narrow but not both. Just need to allow time.

    Advice on Philippines Itinerary

It seems like a lot of travel and that can be very slow in the Philippines, so you need to prepare for possible delays. I've rented cars in Roatan, Belize and two places in Mexico but would never drive in Manila. You'll have 4 traffic lanes with 6 lines of cars and everyone moving between...

    Hose mount for peregrine

I agree with @Mike1967, the Peregrine is designed to go on your wrist.....just by the shape and the strap (although it does come with bungees too)

Trip Report Why I Won't Be Returning to Cozumel-Part 1,2&3

Did the operator you dove with not have oxygen? I'm assuming your wife's symptoms developed sometime after the dive, but could you have contacted them?

Bit of an aside, but what is it at 150M that you want to photograph or video ?

Computer reads 1 ft at surface - normal?

I'm not familiar with your computer but don't think that is normal and may indicate a faulty sensor. Probably worth contacting the vendor.

Question Owners/Operators - What dive scheduling software do you use?

It does seem to vary a lot by location. My experience in Cozumel was that there were a lot of repeat customers. In Belize, Roatan and the Philippines it seemed that more people were at a shop for the first time, although there were some repeat customers. I'd say Cabo Pulmo accommodates a lot...

Question Owners/Operators - What dive scheduling software do you use?

I'm not in any of the businesses you mention but am wondering if you're looking for something to manage customers and contacts or just keep track of bookings. Most dive related businesses I've contacted or engaged haven't used online booking, but have relied on EMail or contact forms. Since...

Trip Report Why I Won't Be Returning to Cozumel-Part 1,2&3

To be honest I can't think of any dive locations we've visited that I wouldn't return to....some are just preferable to others for various reasons.

Avelo--I guess there's no need for me to recommend fundies anymore....

I almost never add air to my wing (I only dump air) once I've adjusted after the initial descent, so the savings in air, for me, would be non-existant. I'm not sure how you would eliminate the BCD or wing. I understood the Avelo system to be self-balancing as far as the tank was concerned. In...

Travel to the Philippines in 2022?

It takes us 24 hours door to door to get to Sabang Beach/Puerto Galera in the Philippines, and we're in Vancouver with a direct flight to Manila.

Things are about to get easier for Canadians hdg to Mexico

Westjet already flies direct to SJD. Not sure about Air Canada but it may too. We don't stay in the Los Cabos area when we dive so, for us, schedule and reliability are more important than cost

    Looking for new DC. Advice?

My wife used a Perdix and I had a Petrel. The Petrel battery compartment flooded so the computer was toast. Shearwater offered me a deal on a Peregrine even though they were under no obligation to do so. I liked the idea of a rechargeable internal battery, so took them up on the offer. I...

Avelo--I guess there's no need for me to recommend fundies anymore....

Because the infernal engine gets me where I want to go faster, doesn't require rub downs or currying and carrys a bigger payload....all of which makes it a more attractive transportation mechanism. The new scuba tank does nothing for me that the old one didn't and possibly introduces...

Avelo--I guess there's no need for me to recommend fundies anymore....

So why would I want something that costs money, introduces another failure point (or at least one) and requires that I change the way I dive when it took me over 200 dives to get my buoyancy in reasonable shape with the gear I use now.
