    Maltese court convicts dive buddy

I'm really surprised that the defence didn't bring in their own "hyperbaric witness" to counter what was presented by the prosecution. I didn't read the Maltese dive regulations. Do they really not allow individuals with proper compressors to fill tanks?

    Maltese court convicts dive buddy

I'm no lawyer but it sounds like Maltese law is a bit different than the US or Canada....at least I hope it is.

    Buddy near OOA heavy current

So was the current hitting the front of his reg dead on?

    Reprimanding Insta-buddy

With a newer diver I would definitely discuss things with her on the boat. Not scolding but in an informative, educational way. I'd approach it from the angle that she didn't understand that what she did was dangerous, despite the fact that she should have known.

    "THIRTEEN LIVES" MOVIE REVIEW

It's the reg that they use. Apparently a lot of UK cave divers prefer it. If you have other questions or are just more interested I'd recommend Rick Stanton's book, "The Aquanaunt"

Which side should the Regulator be on?

I don't mind if they ignore it, but can't understand why they dispute it. Definitely ask for clarification if you need to but just accept what people say without comment.

Consolidate Regs: HOG vs D6 vs DGX

We have HOG, Deep6 and DGX regs in our family. I have worked on all three and can't distinguish from that perspective. Pick whichever looks good to you or go with the best price.

My first ever oh sh*t moment. (CO2 hit?)

Regardless of why this happened, I think you did an excellent job of handling the situation. I'll also add that for me, things that happen at night, on land or underwater, increase my anxiety level... and that makes it harder to not panic.

    Thirteen Lives

Sorry to arrive a bit late, but I just watched the movie. When Stanton is preparing to swim the pump mechanic out he gets Volanthan to give him his mask. I'm not a cave diver but I thought they pretty much carried 2 of everything, including a mask. Is that not right?

Hog D 2 balance plug removal

I have Hog D1's and there is nothing on them called a "balance plug"

    Coral cut advice?

I'd use a hydrocortisone cream. Should be available over the counter in the US, if you're there. If not see if you can find a local pharmacist.

    Suggestion Block feature

I still don't understand why I should care about some obnoxious person who reads my posts. If I don't like their responses I can use the "ignore" feature but I have never done that.....maybe it just doesn't bother me enough.

Just reread the OP. Why would you want to prevent another user from seeing your posts?

    Suggestion Block feature

I don't do Facebook. This is one of 2 or 3 forums I post on and read other people's posts. I don't write anything that can't be published web wide, so I have no need of a feature that blocks my posts from "public" view.

Five stages of owning a boat

Just finished (I hope) bringing a 16 ft 1980 Vanguard (1999 outboard) to safe running order, as well as outfitting it for mooring in a marina. Rebuilt carbs, bilge pump, new batteries, new fuel line, voltmeters, mooring cover, bumper attachments, reupholstered rear seats and a removable...

Where to Dive Pre - Socorro (Dec)

The issue with Cabo Pulmo is that the good accommodations book up well in advance. It used to be 6 months but is now almost a year. We'll be staying at Baja Bungalows for 13 days in November but booked in May and even then a lot of the choices were gone...so if you're going get it done.

large air bubble on a deep dive

I read the OP and have been thinking about it all day. I can't figure out how geology and physics could result in an air pocket in a natural cave at 600 feet of water. I hesitated to post because my question is a bit off topic, but I can't get it out of my head.....what, if anything, am I...

Keep reminding people: Don't rent scooters and don't dive without DAN accident insurance!

I think the most dangerous thing about riding bikes is the other guy. Yes you can mitigate that somewhat, but as another poster said, what is a fender bender in a car can be a serious injury on a bike. That's what steers me away from them, at least on public roads. I've riden off road and so...

    Non-existent EU support

I can see your problem if you want to take your computer for service, but what's wrong with sending it for service....and if you're going to send it do you really care where in the world it goes? If you want to always take your computer for service which one would you buy that would allow that?
