I clip off to the chest D ring when hunting because I have a few things slipped off to my hip. It is nice to be able to just glance down to check pressure.
People do hunt there. Visibility isn't great so pleasure diving isn't very popular. A couple hours down 95 and you can be in Palm Beach County where visibility is good. Try posting in this forum Florida East Coast Spearfishing - Spearboard.com - The World's Largest Spearfishing Diving Boating...
The buckle is the only mechanical thing holding a hogarthian rig on your body. A plastic buckle, when new, may be as strong but not over time. Plastic can become brittle from the sun whereas stainless steel will not. Would a plastic buckle even be that much lighter?
There are air chucks that will connect to a low pressure inflator hose but not sure if there is one with a gauge. A regular tire gauge would work though. Not sure where you live but Marine Sports Mfg out of Florida supplies many of the miscelaneous scuba accesories carried in Florida dive shops...
I live in Orlando and try to dive in Jupiter every weekend:
$20 Nitrox fills
$30 Gas
$80 Charter
$20 Tip
$150 per trip. Although I would like to go every weekend the weather doesn't always cooperate. Sometimes I wills stay the night in Jupiter and repeat on Sunday. Those begin to add up though...
I was always under the impression that you couldn't repaint tanks. I have some faber blue steels that have some scratching but nothing through the primer so far. I would love to repaint them but always thought it was a no-no with the hydro guys.
You are correct. 5-7' for GUE. Wrong link.. Here it is, same price. 5' primary hose but you can upgrade to 84" for free. I simply had the LDS take the adapter off. DGX Custom - Dive Rite XT Single Tank Reg Package
Of course you need a crotch strap too. What makes the regs not DIR? Don't tell me the flex hoses. GUE allows them. I personally love them though I have since changed to a 7' primary hose.
Another charter not yet mentioned is at the Blue Heron Bridge in Phil Foster Park. Little Deeper Charters. Only $70 and they do the usual wrecks and reefs that everyone else does. You can call Blue Heron Bridge Scuba to book or Stuart Scuba as it is all the same owners. (772) 600-8288
There is an app for scuba already. I haven't tried it though. Its called grindr or something like that. You can search for it in the app store on your phone and install it. Its free.
Can't speak for vest or jacket style BCDs but a DIR type setup would be your cheapest and best regardless IMO. If interested in a single tank DIR type setup then:
For regulator, unless you want an octo and a gauge console, the Dive Rite set has to be the best value $599.00. DGX Custom - Dive...
Don;t want to hijack your thread but the problem I found with my session housing is that I cannot find a red filter that will work with it. Anyone else run into this? Mine is like this...
So after recently watching some people dive an aluminum 80 and a 5 mil wetsuit and use around 25 lbs of lead.. Yes.. Some people need to be able to ditch some weight. It is really dependant on the type of tank and exposure suit used and I will say it the shape of an individual. This IS a sport...
