I know, sounds like we are definitely dead in the water. I was surprised about the lack of refunds as well - I only paid the deposit, same as you fortunately. Such a bummer. I'll be cancelling the rest of my Australia trip and hopefully have better luck next year.

I spent two days snorkeling with blue sharks off of Rhode Island. The sharks got very close. You need to keep space between you and them, which I did with my DSLR camera rig. A shark would bump my rig every few minutes, and one shark bit my dome port (scratched it up very nicely)! I never felt...

@Hoag summed it up well. I've been twice, with two different operators. The second time around was on the Nautilus Undersea. I enjoyed both trips, but I thought Nautilus was the better op. They have a couple different boats, but the Undersea has the least amount of people, which means more time...

For now you can, yes. I'm sympathetic to family/employment needs. I just don't want there to come a time when everybody gets out of the water and immediately jumps on their phones.

I did my Divemaster on Utila in November 2012. It rained occasionally, but it did not take away from the overall experience! And Utila was fairly quiet as a result, which was nice. My point being Roatan might be rainy in Thanksgiving, but that doesn't mean it has to suck.

Which are? Just curious for the day if/when my Stiletto fails. I've done virtually all of my diving with my Zeagle Stiletto and have been quite happy with it. It's traveled to multiple countries and been used in a variety of diving conditions.

While St. Croix definitely has the better diving (Frederiksted Pier is one of my favorite dive sites ever), I enjoy being topside way more in St. John. It is three quarters National Park and is just beautiful. And you do see a lot while snorkeling in St. John - eagle rays, stingrays, barracuda...
