Title says it all. Spending a week in Atlantic Beach in early August, hoping to spend as many days as possible diving! Both of these outfits seem to be well-reviewed, so I'm just curious as to why folks might choose one over the other.
Thank you!
Actually, marine-based sources only make up 20-30%. The remaining 70-80% is from land-based sources.
How much of ocean plastics come from land and marine sources?
The original scientific paper is linked in there as well.
I'll answer what I can:
1. You might be able to snag a "Black Friday" deal where they shave another $100-200 off the price. Otherwise, to get cheaper usually requires a last-minute cancellation on a trip, which could be difficult to plan for.
3. Most of the cenotes are between Playa del Carmen...
Thanks for doing the legwork @spchampion
I had the feeling operators (especially Portsmouth Scuba and Seafari) would want to avoid Shoals after last year's death. Hopefully there will be some trips next year. It is my favorite New England dive site!
I second this! I've only done three dives at Bonne Terre, but it was really neat and different from any other diving experiences I've had. If you go in with the right mindset (i.e. accepting the prices and rules for what they are), it is really enjoyable.
You can typically book charters through Portsmouth Scuba, though they usually don't have a schedule for another few weeks. I've gone once/summer with them for the past few years.
@Lisa Hutchinson My trip report on the Nautilus Gallant Lady: Trip Report: Sea of Cortez with the Gallant Lady and Cabo San Lucas with SeeCreatures, Nov.2020
@Will Rogers I was in CSL in November. Highly recommend diving with See Creatures. If you contact them, you'd probably be able to get a private boat. In several days of diving I was either the solo passenger, or there was max two others.
Sounds great! I don't think I'll make it out there this year, but maybe in 2022.
Also, an addendum to my trip report: I had originally booked a one day Cabo Pulmo diving trip through Cabo Adventures. While I was in Mexico, they cancelled it due to weather and promised me a full refund. After...
@ReadyTo Dive how about Baja California? Open with no quarantine requirements, easy to reach from TX and you could head to Cabo Pulmo, Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, Loreto...
I did! Finch was great.
@drrich2 From what I recall, the tiger sharks we saw were anywhere from 10-12 feet. It sounds like that is average, though there are definitely larger sharks like Emma that frequently show up. I think Tiger Beach can be a safe experience for anybody who takes the sharks...
Yeah, diving with a tender can definitely be tiring. It's weird on this trip because two days are in national parks, which required the use of local operators and their respective pangas (and also meant longer rides). The other two days, we used the significantly nicer N.G.L. panga and rides to...
Thanks! Here's some financial info:
Nautilus Gallant Lady - $2,619 (I paid $350 less due to my gift certificate)
4 days of nitrox on board - $80
Port fees - $65
Extra dive after the pre-liveaboard complimentary dive - $45
10 dives with SeeCreatures after the liveaboard - $315
Round-trip airport...
Sea lions bit all over my underwater camera system as well! Definitely the last time I bring a snorkel on a sea lion dive.
Agreed about the northern Sea of Cortez. After this trip to the southern part, I think I would like to explore the north via Rocio del Mar.
