I have two undergarments for sale. The first is an "Andy's Undies" size large. The second is an "Ocean Vendors" also size large. These are both intended for cold water diving - they have heavy linings, as can be seen in the picture. They're both in very good shape. $100 each OBO + shipping...

    Dive this week?

Lobos was crappy yesterday. 6' of viz and a washing machine surge that kicked the tar out of everyone out there. All but two groups had bailed, packed up and left by 11:30am. The forecast is for it to remain the same through Sunday. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. -Adrian

Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

Tried Lobos today. Got the tar kicked out of us. Viz was about 6' and the surge was a washing machine. We didn't get as far as Hole in the Wall before we thumbed it. Seemed that almost every diver in the place did the same thing. Almost everyone had left by 11:30 this morning. Almost the same...

Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

Just did two dives at Lobos. 70' viz past Middle Reef - Hole in the Wall was almost 80' viz. 30' at Middle Reef, dropping in the shallows.

    Monterey/North Coast Equipment Dream List

Twin 109's and a 40 cu. ft. sling bottle are more than enough to do exactly that. Bit of a swim though, so a scooter wouldn't hurt. :) -Adrian

    Solo diving on a rebreather

And you are completely entitled to do that. This is a Coke/Pepsi argument and in most cases no amount of discussion will change anyone's mind. I won't dive solo on my rebreather, and I wish those who want to do so every success in it. That's all there is to it. :) -Adrian

Great video! I'm anxiously awaiting a scooter so I can get out and do some dives outside the Cove. :) -Adrian

    Solo diving on a rebreather

My understanding is that it's because it's not the partial pressure of gaseous CO2 that makes the big difference. It's the partial pressure of the dissolved CO2 in your bloodstream, and there's no easy non-invasive way to manage that. -Adrian

    Solo diving on a rebreather

I personally disagree with your statement, but it is of course your choice. No amount of preparation in the world can prepare you for hypercapnia, and it can occur no matter how carefully you prepare your gear and follow your checklists. It's insidious and you generally won't realize what's...

San Francisco stopover for 6 hours. .need suggestions what to do in there!

I live in Monterey, just south of San Francisco, and I've flown in and out of SFO a few times in the past six months. My recommendation would be to don't even think about it. My wife picked me up from my last flight and the final 12 miles of driving on the road to the airport took her just over...

Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

I had a former dive buddy lose his mask to an inquisitive GPO when it pulled it off his head, but he just put his spare mask on and was fine. They're really very gentle and shy. -Adrian

Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

I guess it depends on where you are. In the Puget Sound we regularly see fully-grown GPOs out in the open in less than 30 feet of water at places like Pt. Whitney and Sund Rock. And as far as diving solo, they're shy, retiring animals that are usually far more afraid of us than we are of them...

Beginning to think I may be a bit "Off" as I enjoy mentoring...

That "help" is the problem. Unless they are certified by the certification agency in question at a "professional" level and are carrying insurance, if an incident occurs in class the insurance agency will deny any claims and you'll be hung out to dry. It's not worth the risk as far as I'm...

    Innovation in diving

I think this thread is officially dead and ready to be buried. Gian is now at the point of being a broken record. I suspect the rest of us are tired of seeing him make the same inane arguments made over and over again. I know *I* am. Mods, would it be possible to close this this thread, please...
