    Hollis Prism2

I've been diving my P2 with original electronics for 16 months now. I've just returned the head to the factory to have the center LED in the HUD replaced (it doesn't show green any more) but other than that I've been very happy with the unit. The WOB is great, maintenance is easy and it's a...

    Shoebox compressor

Nope, but I don't think I'd waste my time on them. From their FAQ: "Q: Can I fill a SCUBA tank? A: Not for breathable air! Yes you can fill a scuba but you have to provide a fill hose and attachment fittings. It will fill an 80 cubic foot scuba tank to 3000 psi in about 24 hours." 24 hours...

Wreck certification course in the Puget Sound area?

I used to teach both Wreck Survey and Wreck Penetration when I was working in the area, but we did the final penetration dives on the Saskatchewan in Nanaimo, BC. There are very few wrecks in the Puget Sound suitable for penetration. -Adrian

    Nautilus Lifeline

"Crickets" usually means that it's so quiet that all you hear is the noise of crickets. And while I don't work for Nautilus I've never heard of them offering special pricing for divemasters or instructors. -Adrian

Where to LEGALLY spearfish in Monterey Bay

It's a complicated map, but we have the brochure that shows open spearfishing areas at Breakwater Scuba on Cannery Row. You're welcome to stop by and pick one up. And while I can't speak to Carmel River or Carmel Bay I believe Monastery Beach is closed. You need to be north of Ribera Road...

Diver struck by boat near Jupiter Inlet

Read a little more closely. The statement was "THE inlet is not a smart place to dive", referring to Jupiter Inlet specifically. -Adrian

I'll be around, but I live in Monterey now so that's to be expected. The viz isn't great at the moment - I hope it picks up for you! -Adrian

    Petrel or Galileo SOL

I owned a Galileo Sol with three transmitters for my various tanks and regs. I dove it for a year, then tried the Petrel. Sold the Luna a week later, bought a Petrel and never looked back. -Adrian

    Octopus Lovers

Ummm, Bob? I'm not sure why you're addressing me with your "Tacoma, WA" and octopus records, since we know one another and have spent more than a few hours talking at Joshua's store. I lived in Port Orchard for many years and am very familiar with the sight and behavior of GPO, so no need to...

Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

Dove the Breakwater this morning. Surface was great - no chop, medium swell. At 40' the viz was about a foot. We scootered to the end of the wall, decided we weren't going to be able to find the block and line to the barge, and scootered back. It opened up to about 10' of viz at 20' on the way...

    Where to learn diving w/asthma?

You obviously have no interest in listening to reason. You have made up your mind and no rational argument will deter you. I wish you success but I am not optimistic about your chances. Being willing to die doesn't make you a diver - it makes you an idiot. And with that I will now ignore any...

    Where to learn diving w/asthma?

I'm glad you're making attempts to further your career. That being aid, this statement is of great concern to me: "But I'm willing to die in order to dive - to me it is worth it". Both PADI and NAUI have a lengthy list of absolute and relative contraindicators for diving, and both list...

    Point Lobos fatality - California

This is the sign you have to walk past to get to the actual beach berm at Monastery. It doesn't pull any punches, but people still die there far too often. It's sad. I was walking on the beach when the last victim was found and saw the emergency crews trying to revive her. I always park by the...
