Dive boots or barefoot for beach diving in Curacao?

Like everyone else is saying some sort of thin soled booties will be fine, it's not iron shore like most of Bonaire. A little something could save you from an errant sharp rock or broken bottle.

    Bonaire shore dive itinerary

Where are you staying, it won't really matter but take it into consideration. I like to go north in the morning, do one dive before t the one way, then one after, stop for lunch in Rincon. (I have been known to have 1 beer with lunch, and dive again in the afternoon and evening it hasn't killed...

    Question Options for OW Course

If you are not sure you want to dive cold and local, do online followed by pool and check out dives in tropical/sub tropical location. Cheapest and easiest. If you might want to do local, do in person class and pool work local, you will likely get something a bit more rigorous and above the...

    My back surgery...

Also check with Lions Club, up our way they do medical supplies donation/distribution in addition to eye glasses. We borrowed a wheelchair from them when my son broke his leg many moons ago. We have also donated crutches from other medical misadventures.

    My back surgery...

Glad to hear things are starting to point in the right direction. Get off that Oxy ASAP. Given your geographic location you cannot afford to be on it too long, we don't want to be reading a thread about Pete's recovery from opioid addiction. 😉

    Considering quitting underwater photography

For me the ideal would be a TG type camera that could operate down to 150' without a housing, and could operate a Strobe/Video light like the new Backscatter hybrid wirelessly.

    Considering quitting underwater photography

Early on I was on the road to ruin with my Nikonos V system, always getting bigger better brighter things. Then dropped out of diving to raise children. Since getting back into diving I've kept the photography as a extra instead of an objective. Minimalist system TG-5 single strobe, no hours in...

New Diver seeking advice and recommandations

Most agencies can put you through the Basic Open Water cert in under a week, a few days if you do the e-learning online first. There are people with Padi AOW certs and less than 20 total dives. All that said, nothing is better than actual experience, if money is no object get both courses done...

Buddy Dive 1st timer... any tips?

Glad it all worked out for you and you had a great time and built some additional confidence. After another trip to Bonaire or two consider Curacao, the beach entries are mostly beautiful sandy beaches many with dive shops, snack bars, and even a few with a full restaurant. The one down side is...

Marine Life 10 year old attacked by a shark - Bahamas

They should normalize the data by miles of coast line. It would be a more precise comparison. Say What's-it-what's-it-stan has only 100 miles of coastline but 10 attacks a year compared to Florida with 1350 miles and 16 attacks you would be much safer swimming in Florida.
