    Looking for some Advice!

Tide maybe a foot difference on the full moon. Currents zero to mild, within the crook of the elbow, can be a factor at the ends of the boomerang.

How is the diving off Playa del Carmen?

I did a 2 dives last year out of pdc, diving on a vacation as opposed to a dive vacation. I would say it's similar to the middle keys not a lot of structure more or less patchy reefs. Usual suspects.

Caribbean Family trip: Which one do you recommend?

Who are the divers? Mom & Dad or parent child? Is the 5 year old a strong swimmer, will they be snorkeling? If the 12 year old is the other diver Jr. OW limits come into play. I would look at Curacao & Bonaire, there is more to do and see top side on Curacao, and many of the shore dives are on...

Help for newly certified father/son on equipment to buy for infrequent diving

We use hose mounted AI, we keep it in the green or maybe yellow. Any computer issue we verify on the still working units ascend to and do SS then exit. Hose mount because I've had enough issues with low power wifi and bluetooth on smart watches to not trust it on dive equipment. Also no...

Help for newly certified father/son on equipment to buy for infrequent diving

Mask fins snorkel dive computer. You don't need AI, you can buy AI capable wrist computer and skip the transmitter for a while to save a few dollars. It's less info to have to manage on a small screen when you are just getting started. Encourage your son to ask you for gas pressure and NDL...

    Diving beyond cert?

The major difference between a 60' no deco open water dive, and a 100' no deco open water dive, is 40'. All else being equal, vis, temp, current, etc, the additional/elevated/aggravated risk factors are the potential for narcosis, the accelerated gas consumption, and the abbreviated NDL. As long...

    Diving beyond cert?

Ideally you creep up on it, you don't turn competitive lap times your first time around the track. If you been to 50 or 60 feet no problems, try 70 to 80, if that's all good, next time try 90 to 100, watch your air it's going to go 50% faster at 90 than it does at 60. Pay attention to your...

Tips for finally picking up diving

I'm going to say that depends on the strength of your script. If your contacts were washed out because your mask was flooded, would you be able to read your gauges?

Tips for finally picking up diving

Don't want to hijack the thread but what is the under water temperature like in the Adriatic and Mediterranean? Does it swing as much as the surface temp?

Tips for finally picking up diving

I'm in the US and have no info on local shops in your area. Once you find a local shop they will likely have a few shops in the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Agean, and Red seas that they refer their students to for the check out dives. It's fairly common for divers to be more interested in warm...

Tips for finally picking up diving

I would recommend doing the OW or the equivalent at home with referral for check out dives in the Caribbean, Red Sea, South Pacific. Followed by fun dives in that location. You will have a greater appreciation of the intricacies and less reliance on an overtaxed guide going forward. Do a few...

Why is becoming a DM considered not worth it?

So I confess I have not read all 140 or so posts. So sorry if you've heard this before. I would suggest you find a place with good inexpensive shore diving, it does not get cheaper than that. Immerse your self in the local diving community, maybe try to get part time employment in the industry...

TG photos, Show us what you shot.

The TG series value proposition is that it is, water proof, rugged, compact, and has incredible macro capabilities. In the hands of a novice, it takes good photos and videos, and if it's strengths are leveraged properly it can get fantastic results for stills and videos. At the end of the day...

TG photos, Show us what you shot.

Yes but, it's not truly wide angle, not sure what the angle on the "bare" lens is, but I would guess it's in the 60 degree range, the M52 takes it to 120 degrees. I'm pretty sure the aspect ratio is just a cropping function, it does not widen the acquisition.

TG photos, Show us what you shot.

Back and forth and in between, no problem, if you want to shoot wide there are wet lenses you can put on and take off under water, I would suggest some practice on land first, and never over the abyss. I don't know about the 6 and 7 but I'm pretty sure my 5 is 1080 30fps max. Stabilization is ok...

2-month stay in Bonaire: recommendations for diving, car rental, etc.

Dive Friends did, and may still, sell punch cards for fills, like 10 or 20 tanks at a time, at a discount vs. the single rate. Have you checked with any on island real estate brokers? They do more monthly rentals than vacation rentals, I don't know if they all have minimums or how long they are...
