I can't speak for Roatan, but I spent 3 months on Utila doing my OWSI and MSDT, and loved it! Sometimes the underwater life was a little .... missing... but the lifestyle was cheap, comfortable and had enough connections to home to be enjoyable! Most of the restaurant owners come from Canada...

I know you can rent digital cameras at Utila Dive Center - reasonably priced. Sony Cybershot and Sealife 800 spring to mind. Not sure if Dive Shack sells cameras or not - but they are right off the ferry so easy to check. Can't think of any other place that might actually sell them on the...

Usually I am able to get both sides down at the same time - I'm not sure you'll get the o-ring seated right if you do one side at a time. With the o-ring seated properly, using the battery hatch tool should allow you to push directly down on the back, seating the entire back, and then rotating...

I've been back and forth to Australia for 5 years now and consider it my second home. To add insult to injury, now there are NEW fires allegedly set by arsonists. And that's not even adding in the flooding in the FNQ. My heart goes out to you, mates - and my money to the Aussie Red Cross...

Is it just me, or is the max pin on that second depth gauge only showing 115 ft max depth? I looked hard, and that's what I saw.

If you're in Tampa, I would suggest contacting Scott at World of Water, Inc - I did my rescue and DM certifications with him. He is a master instructor who teaches Scuba at McDill AFB and at the U of T. Good shop, reasonable prices, and is more than willing to help cater to your time and needs...
