    Entry level drysuit

My buddy has the Bare NextGen, and seems to be a good suit at a good price. My first suit was a used DUI one off of Ebay...it ended up having a couple of leaks, and I had to send it out for wrist & neck seals in addition. I wouldn't go the used route, unless you know that the seals are good...

hurry hurry, drag it to shallow WARM water!

I vote for a cold, dark spot, and on the ships side! :)

    BP Wing VS backinflation BCs

I started with an Oceanic Chute (?) back inflate, and liked it at the time. When I switched to a backplate & wing I noticed that the wing did a MUCH better job at keeping me horizontal trimmed in the water. Since I dive cold water, the steel backplate was also nice for getting 6 pounds of lead...

    Tipping on Boats

I think a $20 bill makes for a nice round number. The folks on the boat don't get paid a whole lot, so after spending $70-100 bucks on a charter, why not spend a little more and feel good about it?

    Wrist mounted gauge boots

I'd also like to see some photos. I've been frustrated with not being able to get a good bungie boot for my DiveRite Duo.

Where to attach knife on BCD??

Before I moved to a wing & backplate, I had my knife zip tied upside down on the BC inflator hose. It was a very accessible spot, but still out of the way. -Todd.

MK25 G250 is this ok for nitrox?

Someone is saying that the reg has to be specially cleaned to go from 21% to 23%?!? I assume this is a typo, and you meant to say 32%? The reg is fine up to 40%, but needs special cleaning if you use mixes richer than that.

    Yet another happy DIY'er

Congrats on your first time! I started about a year ago with my Scubapro regs. On the poppet bearing for the octo, your saying that this is a part that is mandatory to be replaced every year, but wasn't?

    Buoyancy help...

The problem is that your legs are overweighted...add a wing to each leg and you should be good to go. I'd recommend the 100lb size.

    steel or alu?

I think if you dive cold water, steel tanks are a good way to go, just to get some weight off of your weight belt.

    Computer- console or wrist?

Wrist, wrist, wrist... I love the fact that it is so easy to check depth & ascent rate. I practice doing ascents without a reference or anchor line, and can't imagine doing it with a console (though it's probably possible).

    DiveRite ascent rate?

I agree with Mase, some of the times when the alarm goes off, I don't feel like I've been going fast at all. The other thing is that it seems like the ascent rate lags a bit, and then the computer gets really pissed. :) Sometimes, moving your arm quickly is enough to set the alarm off. I've...

    Watch or computer?

I spent the first year or two diving with just a watch. It is a great way to go, as long as you remember to start the watch when you submerse! The watch really forces you to learn to use the tables, and can be had for only $60! That said, I really love my Suunto Viper & DiveRite Duo wrist...

Looking for a wrist computer/watch can you advise..?

I started out with the Suunto Viper, and then moved to a DiveRite Duo because the later could handle two different Nitrox gasses. I strongly recommend renting equipment- it is a great way to get a feeling for some of the different makers, and limits the initial investment. If you can hire...
