    Aluminum STA

My DiveRite STA (Plastic) is 3 1/2 x 15 inches long and is 3/16 inch thick. I know that DiveRite is now cutting slots in their plates for the webbing and eliminating the STA altogether. I think aluminum would like nice. If you have someplace that sells aluminum stock you could toss a tank in...

    Exact size of DUI pockets

The bellows on our Signature TLS-350 is about 2 1/2 inch deep, 12 1/2 inches long, and 7 1/2 inches wide. The pocket is curved so those are at its widest measurements. The other pocket on this suit is a knife pocket. It measures 5 1/2 wide, and 12 inches long. This one is basically flat made...

    New BCD from Poseidon

We purchased two of the Besea W50's. One for me and one for my buddy (my wife). The water temp is a balmy 50 degrees now which is still cold water diving. After calculating our new weight requirements I was carrying 26lbs on my waist, 4lbs on the neck of the tank (ankle weights), and I wore 4...

    New BCD from Poseidon

I just couldn't help myself and went ahead and bought the new besea. I went ahead and got the 50 as I will for sure use it when we vacation. I'm concerned about trim and weight as I am used to the BP&W. I see on their website that they have a plate listed as an accessory but I am conserned on...

    Back-Inflation vs. Jacket Style

I agree with Babyduck especially on this. I dive a back inflate (BP/W) and found that I just add enough air to float. If I must float around on the surface then I just lay back with my fin tips just poking up...like a skier. Like most have mentioned if you can try several BC's and pick...

    New BCD from Poseidon

My LDS just got in one of the new Poseidon BC's. It is supernice looking and you can just see the quality. They have one hooked to a tank so, I tried it on. It felt like a nice backpack. I don't know how it will dive and effect trim. But, I know the long walk to the beach would be better...

    TLS350 Options

We've bought two off of the closeouts and our LDS gave us a discount of that price. We are happy with both suits...they were for our kids and were in new condition. We also had one custom made 'signature' and that one fits perfect. I would like to order one for myself as I have an older...

    long hose-snap bolt

I have my snap secured with an o-ring on the rubber sleeve at the 2nd stage. I snap it off so it doesn't drag the ground on the long walk back to the van. I'm just a recreational diver that switched to the long hose for ease of sharing air. DrDuktayp

    Where are your car keys?

We have a van set up for diving and we just leave the key in the van somewhere, unlocked-gasp. But we don't have much car theft here. We do shut the doors to the van when we go under :) DrDuktayp

Which hand for the HID light?

Thanks for all of the help. I'll move it to the belt next dive and see how it goes. DrDuktayp

Which hand for the HID light?

I recently got my HID and instead of moving everything around on my belt to make a spot for the canister I hung the cannister upside down off my plate on the left side. I didn't notice it was there and I could easily use the switch even with my heavy gloves on. My thinking was that the...

Do you have a dive sticker on your car?

    Harness Webbing Material?

I have been getting mine from the LDS. However, I know that I could get it for a better price from http://www.questoutfitters.com/ . I've done business with them and really liked their prompt service. This is a good source for outdoor materials. DrDuktayp

    Nitrox Question??

My favorite t-shirt says-- "NITROx ROx Air SUx" Gotta love it. Some call it geezer gas as well. I am less tired after diving with enriched air (Nitrox) DrDuktayp

    Split vs. Regular

I can frog kick with mine. I read somewhere that they don't frog kick as well as non-spilts do. I think I will grab a pair of jets from the LDS and see for myself. DrDuktayp

    diving in scotland

If I were you I would definitely take a dry suit specialty course. I love diving cold water. I recently dove in Mexico and it was nice coming home and donning my dry suit again. -grin- DrDuktayp
