Our group of divers mostly dive the DiveRite BP/W. We have one little gal that is 5'1" diving BP/W and two gals at 5'4". The shorty does have the Transplate harness the other two ladies use the one piece webbing (Hogarthian).
Let us know how her test dive goes.

We just got back from Bonaire last week. It was wonderful! We brought our son who only had a dozen or so dives before we went. We picked up a book written by a local Dive Master called "Bonaire-Shore Diving Made Easy," by Susan Porter. It tells about each dive site and what to...
I have a Besea W50 as a warm water rig or for dives that require a hike. I prefer my bp/w with doubles in the cold water. I have dove the W50 in cold water and found that 2 ruberized 5 pound weights on the upper tank straps gives me trim like my bp/w with a single tank. All the extra buckles...
We went to Cozumel last year and stayed/dove with Scuba Club. Most of our dives were at about 55 feet with the exception of Columbia Reef 95' and Palancar Caves 91'.
This year we went to Roatan and most of our dives were around 50 feet. We had our kids (12 & 16) with us so we were also...
I think that you could glue a sole onto the socks if you could find a black sole. I have done several searches for soles and never could find any. My daughter dove Turbo soles and now doesn't like her rock boots.
Keep us posted if you find anything,

Make sure your buddy recognizes the sign(s) as you add them to your underwater vocabulary. We use a few of the Sea Signs.. like Beautiful. At first, we tried to add several at once but during the were dive there was confusion on what was being signed.

I enjoyed reading this thread.
I have three pairs of fins that I use regularly-- Gray SP Twin Jets in Size XL, SP Jet Fin size XL, and my XL Turtles. Like scubakevdm mentioned long ago... each has an area that it excels in. I wear the Turtles the most as they allow me to wear larger rock...
Coke? Wow! I only have one item with a spot of rust on it. Right at the hole on the tang of my Akona knife. I think I will try this technique out on it.

I have a 12 year old that certified a couple of months ago. Before we ever enrolled him in class he went through the PADI Seal Team. We had an opportunity then to see how he might do in class and determine that he liked diving in advance. My wife and I both dive and are fortunate to be able...
I've never had it happen to me but my wife has had this problem...come up. She just swishes her regulator and keeps on diving. If she didn't tell me I would have never known. I bet it is fairly common...lots of people throw up because of 'nerves'.

Wow! I ordered the book last night after reading these posts and browsing Stone's website. I can't wait to read the book.
I am interested in doing my own fills and blending. I was looking at the cost and comparing it to my LDS and wondering how long it would take to 'recoupe' the...
I do think that I would have been happy with either Bare or DUI. I do like the Bare boots better than my DUI rock boots. However, I just ordered a DUI TLS350 the DUI was on special in the 'factory closeouts'. I already have a DUI Flex50/50 and like it. The lower portion is compressed...
hmm, I am feeling lucky.
I say, "I'd like that _______ but it's _______, think I should get it or wait?" She usually says to get it.
Wait a second.... She has MORE toys than I do... Maybe I better go back through the posts to see what she wrote.
<grin>

I'm also looking into the Bare Trilam or possibly a TLS350 from DUI. I was thinking that I would have my LDS measure me and see if I am a stock size. Bare has more sizes than most so I am hoping one of them will be 'perfect'. I'll save money with the Bare.
I have friends that have the...
Another option is to add a quick release on one side. I've seen a one piece webbing modified so that there was one 2" quick release. That one quick release made it easier for the diver to get out of the rig once they were out of the water. Even if the quick release failed I don't think you...
My wife has an Apex Black Pearl. Another diver tried to order one and it turns out that they are done making them (they were limited edition). If you run across one and really want it, I suggest you get it while you can. Really, I think that it is just a pretty ATX200. They do say that they...
StagRaven:
I have taken my BP/W on two warm water vacations. My backplate is negative 6lbs as it is stainless. Adjusting the Hogartharian strap takes a bit when switching from a bulky dry suit and undergarment to a thin 3mm wetsuit. BUT the trim is nice with the plate. I only need about 6...
I agree with Bob, you should ALWAYS actively participate in the dive plan and if you are the type to just leave it to some else you should not be in the water. I even make my diving kids participate in the preparation for the dives we do together. As certified divers they should be...
