    S90 + Ikelite housing : First Impressions

As a [relatively] cold water diver, I can tell you gloves are not any more of an issue than they are with ANY small housed camera (for me, at least). The buttons and controls on the S90 housings I've held are similarly sized to every other Canon (and Ikelite) housing I've held, including the G...

    Canon S90 Take Two

Thanks! (and my strobes use a fiber optic trigger, so they don't tend to go off accidentally) That's a nice, compact rig, for sure.

    Canon S90 Take Two

These were in Cozumel, right? Nice work. :) Do you have a shot of your assembled rig? I'm curious about the overall size, esp with two strobes.

    S90 + Ikelite housing : First Impressions

Hey, looks like they replaced the photo of the prototype Aluminum (natural color) one with the final black anodized version. Nice. :) (Although either would be nice, I'd agree... I think you said you preferred the shiny one)

    S90 + Ikelite housing : First Impressions

The comment people keep referring to was in my original comment on page 1, in post #9 of this semi-epic thread. I said "I've been very pleased with it topside (except in Auto mode... Auto mode on my S90 apparently sucks donkey hiney... poor exposure, won't focus properly, etc. Fortunately all...

Canon S90 with Ikelite W20 wide angle photos

I generally use ImageShack® - Image Hosting for one-offs, but photobucket is good for a full album. Thanks for the sample photos!

Thanks! I agree, this is frustrating.

    S90 + Ikelite housing : First Impressions

It's possible my camera is bad. I've been meaning to contact Canon. Every other mode seems great, but Auto seems to consistently make bad mistakes that a top of the line camera should not, even in easy conditions that should be no problem. (sometimes over exposure, others poor focus, etc.)...

Back from DEMA, two great new Fisheye housings for Canon

So you made an adapter plate to allow your Canon housing to connect to the two-screw Ikelite handle, which is normally used with bigger housings? That's an interesting idea. May cost Ryan a sale if I can figure out how to get that plate made to spec. (Unless you'd be willing to knock out two...

Back from DEMA, two great new Fisheye housings for Canon

Ryan, we may as well start putting together my order now. :D Which ULCS tray would be best with this? I really like the quick disconnect on my Ikelite tray (which then connects to my ULCS arms), but that handle is crazy tall, so maybe ULCS is the way to go this time around? I think they have...

From the Reef product page linked above: "It is composed of four high quality optical glass elements coated with 5-layer anti-reflective coating, and a hard coated polycarbonate dome lens element."

Back from DEMA, two great new Fisheye housings for Canon

LOL you and me both! Housing: $800 (ish, I assume) FIX WA lens: $400 Plus whatever it costs (net) to convert my AD-mount macro lenses to something that works with he FIX case. So I have to come up with over $1200, minimum. And I still need a new handle and tray, since my S80's Ikelite handle...

Back from DEMA, two great new Fisheye housings for Canon

:drooling: I assume when you say Inon lenses you're referring to the UWL-100 28 AD (which is designed for the 28mm lens), and not the more common 105's or the UWL-100 Achromat? Is the 68,000/71,400 yen pricing (~$800) what we should expect? How much is the UWL-04? I've been meaning to call...

    S90 + Ikelite housing : First Impressions

Thanks for the photo, Penti, I see what you're saying now. It does seem to me, however, that with the simple addition of that hand-drawn indication line (crude or not), the problem is pretty easily managed... right?

Canon S90 in Canon WP-DC35 Housing: First impressions

Hmm. Might depend on exactly what type of moisture muncher you're using... the little tubes or the little mini sugar packet-style. I think there may be somewhere you could squeeze in the latter, but I'm not sure about the tubes. I'll see if I can take another look when I get a chance... maybe...

Canon S90 in Canon WP-DC35 Housing: First impressions

It's no problem. I played with this very feature a little when I first got the camera into the housing. It's easier than I thought... press the S with the left hand, press up and down with the right. Admittedly I wasn't wearing gloves at the time. Perhaps I'll try that again when I have a...

Canon S90 in Canon WP-DC35 Housing: First impressions

Well, I finally got the Canon housing in for my S90. Now I have to decide if I want to keep it, or exchange it towards the Ikelite housing instead. Here are my overall impressions: This housing is better made than I recall from my prior Canon housing, several year ago. Not as sturdy as the...
