I don't think either would ever break. The Waterborne straps are still solid nylon bands that will probably outlive US. The fit, finish and overall feel of the Maratac straps is worlds apart, however.

You realize that the Maratac watch you're comparing the mechanical watch to is a battery operated quartz watch, and not kinetic, right? It's just not a valid comparison, from an accuracy standpoint.

If you want rock solid to-the-second accuracy, you don't want ANY kinetic watch... even a $40k Patek Philippe is going to be too inaccurate for you, as is a $20k Rolex. Get a $100 Casio G-Shock, one of the ones that syncs to the atomic clock, and you won't have to worry about it again...
