SoCal Meet, Greet and Dive - Saturday February 6th

k374 makes a good point... it seems like rain is likely, but that shouldn't affect boat dives other than to make the topside time a little colder. Perhaps you can jump on a local boat to Catalina instead of shore diving it? Should be in the neighborhood of $130ish, not the end of the world...

    Intova Mini Torch

Until recently, B&H listed the Intova Compact Torch as using 3x AA batteries instead of 3x AAA, so I'd be inclined to think the latter. They also have it described as "IMINI" instead of "Mini" which is the proper name (per Intova's site) Or, the description is correct, and the photo on...

    Intova Mini Torch

Apparently not, according to a couple of angry reports I've read.

SoCal Meet, Greet and Dive - Saturday February 6th

Depending on the forecast, I might still go. Only if it's not raining, though. It's over an hour drive for me (nothing by comparison, I know, but still) and just it's not worth it for terrible conditions. :(

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

Got the measurement. From the port glass to the outermost edge of the 28AD adapter, it appears to be 1.4 cm (14mm), perhaps .5mm more (my little plastic ruler here is not as precise as I'd like). Interestingly, just for giggles, I took the 28AD adapter that I was sold for using my UCL-165AD...

Lots. :) Going down the menu... English Deutsch Francais Nederlands Dansk Suomi Italiano Norsk (I'm not going to try to type Cyrillic words!) Svenska Espanol (I'm not going to try to type asian characters... Chinese, perhaps?) (I'm not going to try to type Cyrillic words!) Portugues (no...

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

I'm using the same Inon UCL-165AD lenses that I used with my S80 on my Fix housing with the S90. You just need a $12 adapter so the lenses are spaced properly with the 28AD adapter (which has slightly different spacing to the regular AD adapters). I don't have an answer for you re wide...

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

Sure, I'll see if I can measure it when I get home. I'd really love to be able to use the nice, compact Inon 165, for all the reasons you mentioned. I just hate threading lenses on underwater... and switching among options (using the AD bayonet connectors) is a big part of my diving. No...

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

Now if only I could mount the 165AD lens onto the AD adapter on my Fix housing, I'd get one in a heartbeat. :(

SoCal Meet, Greet and Dive - Saturday February 6th

There are usually ScubaBoard (and other board) get-togethers once or twice per year at Heisler. (took a year or so off while they were doing construction and rebuilding the park, but looks like we're back in business now). This rain thing blows, though. I was really hoping to get my wife...

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

Will do. I took a few shots of the Fix S90 housing as compared to my current (now prior?) camera, my S80, in the Ikelite housing (NOT one of the new compact housings), just for kicks. Sooo much smaller! :D (more, and higher res, here) I think I could almost fit the Fix S90...

S90 with Ike- Which Inon strobe?

Yes, it's right on the Inon Japan site: INON Products Catalog Download (direct link to lens catalog)

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

It's here, and it's BEAUTIFUL! WOOHOO!!! I can't wait to get home and set it all up. (Naturally, I grabbed my whole camera case but forgot my Fix>Ikelite Tray adapter plate at home) The one bad thing is Reef sent me the wrong screw ... again ... to hold my D2000's magnet in place. So I'm...

S90 with Ike- Which Inon strobe?

One interesting thing I read in Inon's strobe catalog (see pg 5) is the option having one strobe in External Auto mode, and the other in sTTL mode. By pairing an S2000 and a D2000, you could work in this way without having to have two D2000s. I haven't experimented with that, but it seems...

S90 with Ike- Which Inon strobe?

If you decide you don't want those S2000 strobes anymore, I could use another strobe to pair with my D2000. ;)

S90 with Ike- Which Inon strobe?

One other minor difference is the D2000 can be stopped down one step lower than the S2000, in addition to the other points. (13 steps, 20 down to 2.5, vs 12 steps, 20 down to 3.0 for the S2000). Also the S2000 is about 50% heavier underwater than the D2000, since it displaces less water. Not a...

SoCal Meet, Greet and Dive - Saturday February 6th

Clearly you haven't been around here for the past couple of weeks! Between monster surf and torrential rain, I was starting to wonder if I was on the right longitude...

SoCal Meet, Greet and Dive - Saturday February 6th

I'll be there, hopefully, wife in tow. Unless her back is still messed up. :( In which case I may or may not be there... sans wife. Timing is always variable with me, when it comes to early mornings on weekends. LOL

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

Since the Reef order had already gone out, I decided to grab the panel from Backscatter. Have to pay tax in state, but it's a small item. Good news is, they're close, so it actually already arrived! Now I have to wait for the housing to come (tomorrow, in theory). Meanwhile I have this...
